Hey all,

My cousin married a girl from Slovakia, so I knew all about the process I was getting into when I proposed to my Mexican fiancee, but I feel that these forums are making me over paranoid about the I-129F packet. I have been reading and reading different threads and feel that maybe I have begun to simply over analyze everything. I guess the worse that can happen is that I get an RFE and have to send something additional in. I need to start printing out the forms looking at them as hard copies, double check and send this packet in already. However before I finish up I need just a few points of clarity. So if you have a golden nugget to share please respond to any of these concerns. Thanks I truly enjoy VJ, a little too much if you ask my fiancee.

#1 Cover letter

I am using the VJ example. Should I out the USCIS Dallas lockbox address for my service center or not put anything at all?

#2 I-129F Question 18

On this extra sheet of paper should I simply write at the top of the sheet

Form I-129F Supplement Question #18

And sign and date the bottom after explanation. (should this be stapled to the I-129F?)

#3 Letter of intent

Once again the VJ example. Should I out the USCIS Dallas lockbox address for my service center or not put anything at all?

#4 G-325a

I need an extra sheet for resident addresses for the past 5 years. Can I use this format for the extra sheet.

Form G-325a Supplement Applicants Residence Last 5 years

And sign and date the bottom after explanation. (should this be stapled to the G-325a?)

#5 Copy of birth certificate

Can I put the front and back of the certificate on the same sheet of paper if they fit? Or 2 separate sheets?

#6 Proof of having met and ongoing relationship.

I have three boarding passes from three different trip to Mexico. Should I photocopy these and use pictures of us together. The stamps in my passport are really blurry and dont really turn out on copies? Anything else to use?

Thanks VJ'ers.....

#1 Cover letter

I am using the VJ example. Should I out the USCIS Dallas lockbox address for my service center or not put anything at all? I put Vermont Service Center and their address (even though I mailed it to Dallas.

#2 I-129F Question 18

On this extra sheet of paper should I simply write at the top of the sheet. Sure, or you can center it

Form I-129F Supplement Question #18

And sign and date the bottom after explanation. (should this be stapled to the I-129F?) Yes, sign and date it. I paperclipped it. Never staple.

#3 Letter of intent

Once again the VJ example. Should I out the USCIS Dallas lockbox address for my service center or not put anything at all? I addressed it to Vermont Service Center. Read the letters carefully if you are using VJ example. I.e. For you or your fiance you need to change up the wording. I.e. On your letter, don't write, "I intend to marry my fiance when I enter..."

#4 G-325a

I need an extra sheet for resident addresses for the past 5 years. Can I use this format for the extra sheet.

Form G-325a Supplement Applicants Residence Last 5 years

And sign and date the bottom after explanation. (should this be stapled to the G-325a?) Sounds good. But paperclip it.

#5 Copy of birth certificate

Can I put the front and back of the certificate on the same sheet of paper if they fit? Or 2 separate sheets? I did 2 separate sheets... the front and then a blank page as my back is blank. (I put a sticky on the blank page stating that the back of birth certificate is blank. In your case I would send 2 pages.

#6 Proof of having met and ongoing relationship.

I have three boarding passes from three different trip to Mexico. Should I photocopy these and use pictures of us together. The stamps in my passport are really blurry and dont really turn out on copies? Anything else to use? Sure that sounds good regarding boarding passes... but I would send in a copy of every single page of your passport... even if they are blurry. I even sent in a copy of the front and back cover of my passport. Ie. I sent everything from front cover to back cover, and try to un-blur them. Better off sending it in then being asked for it later. Regarding pictures, write full names of everyone in the photo and dates photo were taken on the back with a black felt tip pen.

Thanks VJ'ers.....

First of all, it is in your best interest to be paranoid as possible. There is a reason you see that theme abound: folks that don't educate themselves, check, and then recheck, tend to be the ones that experience delays and denials.

And the "worst" thing than can happen is an outright denial, with an RFE or being put into AP possibly being a very lengthy inconvenience.

#1 Cover letter

I am using the VJ example. Should I out the USCIS Dallas lockbox address for my service center or not put anything at all?

Address all additional documents like you would any business letter. Yes, the recipients address should be at the top, and you should sign it. This includes the Letters of Intent, etc.

#2 I-129F Question 18

On this extra sheet of paper should I simply write at the top of the sheet Form I-129F Supplement Question #18 and sign and date the bottom after explanation. (should this be stapled to the I-129F?)

Answer to #1 applies. Do not staple any documents, as the petition should be sent in a folder and collated according to the table of contents anyway.

#3 Letter of intent

Once again the VJ example. Should I out the USCIS Dallas lockbox address for my service center or not put anything at all?

Same as before.

#4 G-325a

I need an extra sheet for resident addresses for the past 5 years. Can I use this format for the extra sheet.

Again, use the same exact business letter format for every document, and just include this info in the body of the letter in a table format.

#5 Copy of birth certificate

Can I put the front and back of the certificate on the same sheet of paper if they fit? Or 2 separate sheets?

Two separate sheets -- don't print anything two-sided.

#6 Proof of having met and ongoing relationship.

I have three boarding passes from three different trip to Mexico. Should I photocopy these and use pictures of us together. The stamps in my passport are really blurry and dont really turn out on copies? Anything else to use?

Submit copies of the boarding passes. We printed six photos with captions on a single 8.5x11 sheet of paper, and it worked for us. Scan the passport stamps, and adjust the contrast on your computer to create the best copy possible. Technically, that's all you really need, though folks will also include phone records, social media records, engagement ring receipts, hotel receipts, etc.

Plenty of people will say you don't even need to prepare your documents in a proper format, but when we did it I figured making it look orderly, professional, and as if we put some thought into it couldn't hurt the cause any.

You have to keep in mind the individual sorting your petition. They go through a lot of them, and by including a decent table of contents and preparing the documents in a clear, easily readable manner, you make their life a bit easier. I've seen the quality of some packets that have gone out, and cringed.

This is more of what I'm suggesting -- just a basic, traditional layout:

I completely agree.

I have just two question about your example. What language is that? And should I put the Dallas Lockbox address for USCIS?

thanks for your time..

I have seen many, many threads about addresses on the cover letter and intent to marry....

Most people know that the I-129F packet must be sent to the Dallas Lock Box and will then be forwarded to one of the centers.

Is it safe to say that we can use that address on these 2 documents or would a simple "USCIS Service Center" be sufficient?

PS. Another great post I just found here on VJ explaining all the fees..

Its missing fees for the medical, for any copys of things, for a passport if you need one as well as all the passport pictures, the police clearance and long form birth cert etc. It does not explain all the fees. Just the larger portion that belongs to USCIS/US embassy. There are more fees in the process than what is shown on the list.

I am sure many packets are sent in without addressed documents, and amount to little more than a stack of disordered paperwork. You have to think the bar is set pretty low in that, so if you at least make an effort to put it together nicely you are already ahead of the game.

Since the packets go to the Texas Lockbox now, you can't for certain say where they will be sent. It could potentially go to the east or west coast, depending on workflow.

Honestly, because of that if it were me doing it now I'd just generically address it to the USCIS in some way and call it a day. It's more important that you just have everything in there, and they don't have to dig around looking for what they need.

Has anyone had a problem because they did not put the correct address on the Cover Letter and Intent to marry?

Example of 'intent to marry':

September 30, 2010

To whom may it correspond:

This is to state that I plan and intend to marry and live together with my fiancée <fiance/fiancee name here>, within 90 days of her arrival to the US after being approved for a K-1 visa

<your name here>

They are not looking for a literary product, or even a business like letter..All needed is just to state your intent.

You can add cosmetics if you want. We are about to start AOS in a few weeks. As other posts said, you want to make it simple but rigorous.

COmmon sense is what you need, and when in doubt, put the question here. About every possible scenario imaginable would probably have more than one member here that can speak to it.

Good luck
