hey all,

first i just wanna tell you that you are an amazing community!

i have a question about going back and forth...

what can one do, if he wants to come to the US to visit his girlfriend for the allowed 6 months,

living off his compensation money he got from work,

but two months after coming he needs to go back to his home country for his brothers' wedding..

for like 2 weeks...

how can he do it without any trouble? will the wedding invite will be good? maybe pictures?

its sounds stupid that he wont be able to come back to the US after that...

thanks a lot!

have a nice day!

Why would he have any trouble leaving US for wedding ? Assuming he gets 6 months stay (this not necessarily has to be case - it is up to CBP offices what lenght of the stay will be authorized), once he leaves he needs to give up his I-94 and the stay is over. Coming again is entirely new story and absolutely no one will care he had 6 months authorized stay (assuming that what he'd get) - he'll have to apply again and he may get another 6 months (or less) and he may be denied entry (again - up to CBP).

Are you saying he got a single entry tourist visa? If so, he will need to apply for another visa. If he holds the more common ten year multiple entry visa then as mentioned above, you should be fine to come back and spend more time in the USA as he was no-where close to the max 6 months in a year.

hi,

sry i wasnt clear enough-

were talking about a multiple 10 years visa, with no overstaying what so ever.

2 entrences to the US, one of the like 5 years ago, and another earlier this year, around march. both for 3 weeks.

i just heard that the fact that he went back to his country and stayed there for such a short while could be a problem...

There should be no problem. He may not be given the full 6 months on his second entry, as he's been in the USA for 2 months so recently, so he may only get 4 months on his second entry, but other than that, no problem.
