I'm one of those people who think gas prices should be higher. I'll get me coat.

Why? Let's enjoy it while it lasts.

We don't own a hybrid, and our 7 year old car gets 40 mpg. Our neighbor owns a hybrid and she gets 35mpg going the same route.

Mine does 16 mpg. In theory. In reality, it's more like 10 mpg. Yay, environment!

As far as I can see, hybrids don't really get significant gas mileage improvements over their non-hyrid counterparts. The Toyota Camry Hybrid bosts 40 mpg in the city, but at least here in California, most of the miles are done on the highway, where its mileage is 38 mpg. The non-hybrid Camry gets 33 mpg on the highway, only 5 mpg less. As for Fuel Efficiency, if that it the overall goal, you might as well buy one of the New Volkswagen Golfs that get 44 mpg hwy which aren't even hybrids. The most efficient hybrid (Insight) gets 60 mpg and it's got problems.

we own a Prius (Toyota hybrid) and we are currently averaging close to 50mpg. On a 10 gallon tank, it's pretty sweet.

Oh, and gas here in Tulsa is around $2.26 right now, having dropped considerably in the last two weeks.

your car payment will buy a lot of gas for a 'paid-for' car.

It's been dropping here every day. A few days ago it was around 2.35/gallon and now it's 2.25/gallon.

I filled up at 2.49 yesterday and that was the cheapest I found. Where do you get gas around here for 2.25?

The closer to Tampa you get, the higher the prices go. I live an hour north-west of Tampa (Spring Hill-Hernando County) where the gas is always cheaper than in Tampa. Also in Pasco county, gas is cheaper than in Hillsborough County and Pinellas County.

True, but our case it makes sense. I use our paid-for car to drive my very short drive to work, my hubby uses the Prius for his 20-min drive to work, and we use the Prius for any extra driving during the week. The savings in gas from both cars enable us to pay the car payment with little impact to our monthly budget, especially when gas was hovering close to $3/gallon.

I just filled up for 2.11

How did you fill up for 2.11? Do you drive a lawn mower or did you already have 15 gallons in your tank when you went to the gas station?

Gas prices continued to fall in Plainfield. I filled up the truck today for $2.01/gallon. First time I've spent less than $30 to fill the truck in months.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
