Hi All,

I mailed the I-129F package for my fiance and I on Thursday 7/21/11 and today 7/27/11 received the USCIS acceptance confirmation email. The email says that the package has been received and routed to the Vermont Service Center, says that the NOA1 notice (I-797) will be forthcoming 7-10 days, and includes the corresponding receipt number. So thus far, we assume all is well and we're really excited that the process is underway finally!

But my questions: the check has not yet been cashed, so I'm wondering if it's still possible for some problem or error to cause the application package to be returned. Or does the acceptance confirmation mean they've done an initial pre-check that the forms have been filled out correctly? We've been a little worried over a couple of things we weren't sure about. One, my fiance is a native of China but is a naturalized Canadian citizen. Her parents legally changed her first name to an Anglo name shortly after they were naturalized. On the G-325A it asks her write her name in her "native" alphabet if other than Roman letters. We left this blank, reasoning that her current legal name is not and has never been represented with Chinese characters, although technically her "native" alphabet is Chinese. Second, she filled out the G-325F on a computer PDF, printed it, signed and dated the printout, and mailed it to me. However, she neglected filling in the box for "last address over 1 year outside the US" since she wasn't sure if it applied to someone who'd never lived in the US. She did of course list all her addresses for the past five years. After researching it a bit here, I decided it should have been filled in, so rather than wait for her to reprint and re-mail it, I just filled this box in by hand on the signed form I already had.

So does the email acceptance confirmation mean that the forms have been deemed error free, or could the still reject it and send it back? Or might they later send an RFE asking that it be resubmitted if there were a problem?

Thanks for reading, any insights appreciated. And can you tell I'm kind of obsessively worrying about this? :D

NOA1 does not mean that forms themselves are error free. It means that they checked and saw all the forms and that fee is correct and collectable. They do not actually cash the check. They rather withdraw electronically. You will be fine.

Yeah your worrying too much my friend. relax you have a long ride here lol. My check was cashed about a week after the text notification. And my hard copy receipt came about a week later. After that you want to race to the USCIS website and track your case. Some track immediately and some take months before it shows up and some never do. Goodluck! Jim.

Cool I mailed my pkg on Saturday and got the e-mail confirmation just a minute ago too! Mine was sent to CSC though. Congrats to both of us! :-)

Hey, thanks for the replies. Yes, you're right about worrying too much, I'm trying to relax as we speak. :D

So, I guess I can relax a little knowing that the petition has at least made it through the front door, so to speak, and we'll worry about fixing any problems when and if they arise later down the line.

Thanks a bunch,

R

You have five minutes (5) from after you post your comments that you can edit for errors or spelling mistakes or things like that. Once the 5 minutes have passed, then you are no longer able to edit your posts. If you have personal information that you wish removed, however, members of the Moderation Team can assist with this.

Regarding the name, you are correct. Her legal name is "anglo", and should therefore be written "anglo" on the form. The "native alphabet" field is intended primarily for applicants from countries whose legal system uses a different alphabet, and for whom the anglicization of the name you put in the "Name" field is not actually their legal name in their country of citizenship. As you surmised, this does not apply to her. If her legal name is perfectly represented in English in the primary name field, no "native alphabet" supplementation is necessary.

Regarding the G-325, as long as her original signature is on the form, and all of the information is true and correct and legible, it's fine. USCIS have no way of knowing the address was added after the signature, and since the signer is OK with the addition, it's all good anyways. A mixture of handwriting and computer printing is generally acceptable to USCIS, unless the form generates a bar code from the fields, and the G-325 does not.
