Call me crazy but...

Last year we went west and just happen to get to Mt. Rushmore, SD where small group of future citizens had an oath ceremony under the watchful eyes of four presidents.

The naturalization ceremony in this surrounding was just amazing! (link to local news from this year: http://www.newscenter1.tv/stories/9091.aspx

Now if I live and file my N-400 (in about three months) in Illinois, would it be possible to transfer and schedule the oath in Rapid City, SD for next year?

I would give a lot to be able to have my there. I just love this place.... it gives me a special perception.

Has anyone on VJ heard of anyone having oath in different state, different USCIS office jurisdiction?

How it can be done?

Who should I write, talk about this?

Thanks guys. As I said I am crazy :)

Not going to happen unless you move to SD. In New Hampshire they have beautiful oath ceremony in Portsmouth's Strawberry Banke museum and it never crossed my mind to go there for oath just because it's great. Had it in Chicago like everyone else from metro area.

Well... I thought about the move... Nice place to live comparing to Chicagoland. Some hills and more. However that seems to be extreme solution.

I want to explore other options. Some people say that everything is possible,

No,

you cannot pick your Oath location.

Imagine having your Oath location at the Los Angeles Convention Center where they swear in 12,000 foreigners on one single day, Texas cattle-drive-style, which is as pleasant as 2-hours of water boarding in a stinky tent, and embrace that there's finally one reason where living in Illinois beats living in Los Angeles.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Hi JustBob,

I was waiting for your comment knowing I won't be disappointed :)

There is one more reason putting Illinois over California.... even two...

And, well... the cattle-drive is an american tradition, much older than Mt. Rushmore.

Has a thrill on its own

Back to subject, there is no mention about inability to chose the oath location. No mention about ability either...
