the letter usually comes month before inteview, depends on the embassy in your country. It's different for everyone

they won't give you less than a weeks notice...

Yes, you can book the ticket--if the oath-ceremony occurs before the trip, just remember to get an expedited passport.

My own oath-ceremony was less than three weeks before I had a trip booked to go to India.

I guess it sort of depends on what stage you're at - I take it you're done finger prints and now waiting on the interview letter? You're talking about taking a trip a month from now - if you just did FP, then you might be ok, but if you've already been waiting a while, the interview letter might be imminent.
