Ron Paul won't run for reelection to the House

I am bummed. I lost my Congressman due to his ridiculous run for the presidency. At the least the GOP can now finally maybe get someone they want in there. Usually the state and national GOP runs and well funds someone against him in the primary and usually they lose big time. We love him down home.

Paul, 75, will instead focus on his quest for the

presidency in 2012

“I felt it was better that I concentrate on one election,” Paul said. “It’s about that time when I should change tactics.”

His announcement will give enough time for anyone with aspirations for his seat to think about running, he said. Paul didn’t want to wait for filing in the 2012 primary to let people know he wasn’t seeking reelection.

“I didn’t want to hold off until in December,” he said. “I thought it shouldn’t be any later than now.”

I think some of that "hope and change" will directly translate to a "this guy kind of makes some sense." All that fire has to go somewhere, right? (Well, at least the fire that wasn't racially motivated anyway.)

Ron Paul has his fan base and he makes a lot of sense on a lot of issues. But he's coming across as a bit detached from reality on others and I just don't see how he could win a three way. Not in my lifetime and unless I get hit by a bus, he's not gonna be around that long.

Yeah, I don't think that's going to happen this time. This time I think he's in there one way or another be it GOP rep or not.

It will happen again. The GOP will not allow him to win the nod. They will make sure the media will not hype him or even give him much coverage. They will threaten the Main media by withholding campaign funds for advertisements and the media expect and need these funds to survive. At the debates this year again they will ensure he is at the far end and not get any questions thrown his way again except the few asking where he stands on very minor stuff again. It is ridiculous for him to go out this way.

I've heard, but haven't verified, that part of his reason for not re-running for the House is that his District has been carved up so badly that it would be tough for him to win again. I don't know how true this is, no man.
