Preparing I-751 - Forgot AR-11 and I-865

Hi all,

My wife and I are getting ready to file her I-751 as the 90 day window is approaching in late August. While compiling all the required information, I realized that we hadn't filed an AR-11 nor I-865 when we moved addresses about a 1 1/2 years ago. To make things a little more complicated, we are moving to a new address at the end of July (which is prior to sending the I-751).

I'm not sure what I should do and wanted to see what you all would do.

1. Should we file the AR-11 and I-865 for the move we made 1 1/2 years ago? Then file another AR-11 and I-865 when we move later this month?

2. Or should I just file the AR-11 and I-865 for the move later this month and disregard filing for my current address?

We appreciate any advice you can give us!

Regards,

Andrew

Thanks for asking this question! I am curious to know what kind of notice will you get when you file both the AR-11 and I-865? We are also moving in two weeks!

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

You only get a receipt notice for ONE of the forms. We only got a notice back for my husbands(USC) change of address notice not for mine even though we filed at the same time and moved to the same house and i'm the LPR.

I would just file the second COA so you don't confuse things, but be prepared to explain how you forgot to file the first change of address 1 1/2 years ago.

You need to file the form AR-11 if your address has changed since you last entered the U.S. You must file it within 10 days of the change.

File your I-751 with your (new address) when you move in July. I would email/send the AR-11/I-864 just before your I-751 Don't forget to list all addresses and dates on part 3 line 9 of the I-751

The AR-11 can be done online. https://egov.uscis.g...ction=coa.Terms

If you file your AR-11 online you can print out the online form as your receipt.

The I-865 receipt notice is the standard I-797C NOA with

'case type'

(sponsor change of address) and new address on the notice

If you do your AR-11 online and print out your receipt, looks like this

Thank you all for responding. We'll go ahead and file our new address and send the I-751 afterwards. Hopefully the USCIS won't really look into the oversight I made. I'll update this topic once we find out.

We filed AR-11 when we moved recently and I still got a notice from HomeLand Security on my previous address reminding me that I have to remove conditions within 90 day window which is approaching soon.

We haven't yet got any I-865 receipt/notice although we filed them. So I am not sure that there is an update or not.

Hi All

We're getting ready to send in the I-175 mid August and I've been reading through the posts for guidance. We have moved from our original filing address twice. We moved June 2010 into another apartment (within the same building) and then bought a house and moved in at the beginning of July this year. I didn't realize that I had to notify anyone about moving house! What can I do to rectify this oversight, if anything??

Thanks in advance!

Moira

the best thing to do is inform them asap to them so when u file they will have current address, but you need to inform them from 10 of the move and it better to do it on line as well as send it Ar-11 ,best of luck,
