I'd buy a new car. A Chrysler K Car. A very reliant kind of car.

and a monkey. Haven't you always wanted a monkey?

Monkeys are wild animals. They do not make good pets

Debts have been paid off already... including taxes... and you have $1million, cash in hand....

I would ensure that the kids' college is paid for (or at least most of it... I didn't get a free ride, don't believe they should either, but that's a subject for another thread...) and probably stay right where I was for a while, working and everything.

I would donate a portion to church and to the American Cancer Society, invest, and eventually, when the girls left the nest, I might divest my assets, find some land to keep horses on (out west, perhaps) and balance my time between family, travel, and horses. Of course, David's saxophone habit would be a priority too... I'm sure we'd accumulate a collection!!

Jen

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Open a Bar/Restaurant in Bali or Lombok with half.

Reserving the other half for survival, if the biz became insolvent.

Then, work for a while longer, and try it again from a different angle!!! :D

Well, if we had $1 million, for sure, we'd buy a nice house, a couple nice cars, set some aside for college for Ryan and myself, pay off our debts, and work on our actual "dream wedding", then.....wait, I think we need $100 million...

If we had a million dollars.... we would give 10% to the LORD. by putting it in different churches and then differnet missionary organizations. Then we would buy a smaller two bedroom house, buy a used car, and keep a little out for spending money, and put the rest in savings for a rainy day. SO we can travel abroad doing missionary work.

Put it all into t-bills and make 50k a year tax free"FOR LIFE". I have no debt so i dont need to pay anything off and i would not buy a house in this market, so i would just travel from place to place. 1k per week will take you to alot of places especially if you are staying in hostels or doing that couch surfing thing where people let you stay with them for free. But for when i do need a permanent place i would rent a small place for 1k per month and just enjoy life.

I heard that a 'rule of thumb' for investing a million bucks you can expect annual return of 50k. if that where true, I am not sure Icould retire. I'd prolly work a bit more to accumulate a bit more to buy a house wherever we decide we want to retire at.

 Yep. I'd invest it and keep my job. Then use that 50k to help out family members as needed.

* I'd take out a loan and buy my ex-wife a house so the kids would be able to visit her in a safe environment.

* I'd set up a small trust fund for a college scholarship to help out students who come from dire poverty.

* I'd buy a Honda Civic Hybrid and get rid of my Hyundai.

* I'd never wear holy underwear or socks again.
