There is fortunately, a way to track specifically the N-400 application with email/text. You basically needed to send in the Form G-1145( E-Notification of Application/petition Acceptance) along with your application. USCIS emails you when your case is accepted, is under processing, is scheduled for interview/testing or is waiting for the Oath ceremony.

If you missed sending in the Form G-1145( E-Notification of Application/petition Acceptance) form during filing, you can register your case with USCIS at www.uscis.gov with your application receipt number and email notification for specific changes. I suggest, you should do this now so that you at least have a fair enough idea when USCIS is trying to correspond with you.

 Works extremely well--as we did that for Pras, and got notifications up to interview.

The one case where email notification WON't be sent (for those who signed up for it) is for oath ceremony if there is name-change integrated into N-400 app.

can always call uscis, ask if any returned mail for your case and name, verify (with Tier 2 rep) the address.

IF it's the 'right address'

then it's time to get chummy with yer postal carrier, make sure they know you live there.

USUALLY a new name card taped onto the inside of the box, with a plate of brownies, works wonders.

Otherwise the postal carrier will simply return it to the sender (USCIS) as undeliverable.

I just fixed that so hopefully my dad does not miss the next invitation. I sure hope it does not end up taking too long for he gets reinvited for interview :(

Certainly your responsibility to maintain your mailbox, but wondered why all government agencies send everything out via first class mail. Especially key documents, first class mail is not traceable.

Can't say we had any good luck with e-mail alerts, never received updates, just the NOA for the very first time from that lockbox outfit. Not sure who sends out the biometrics, but the letter comes from Missouri. I know the field office sends out the interview notice, our field office in St. Paul doesn't do that, so must be up to the field office to decide whether to send out appointments or not.

But if you did receive an email alert, what do you do? Camp out at your mailbox? Can't recall the number of times, said to myself, maybe tomorrow, but you can get many tomorrows that can lead up to weeks or month. They don't tell when they sent it out, so what help is that?

We like to wish each other good luck, besides not running into bad weather, traffic jams or accidents, getting a not so good IO, perhaps receiving your interview letter should be added to having good luck.

Sorry to hear about this. Could it be that someone maybe intercepted your letter? Call me paranoid, but don't rule out the possibility of someone trying to block your blessings. Just my thoughts. But what is yours, is yours and when God says yes, no being can so no.

NickD, when you sign up for email alert (sorry you never had any luck with them) it tells you a timeframe as to when you will receive the notice in the mail. Now, if you didn't get the physical letter after the certain dates, you can at least call and have an idea about the infos of the appointments, and they'll probably even resend you your appointment.

Ha, after playing house over the telephone for two years, we never even thought about the USCIS when we could actually play in the same house together. We didn't mind spending our honeymoon time together filling out USCIS forms, we were together finally. Was a bit of stress of finding a USCIS approved doctor that wouldn't rob us to death, but we found one. We got the NOA for our applications, was told my wife was legal here now, so just forgot about the USCIS.

The real stress came in our life during the ROC stage, that was a battle, with senators help, got those ten year cards just ten days before that one year extension would have expired. During this mass period of frustration with all the BS we received from the USCIS, like look at your processing dates, we elected to apply for the N-400 exactly 88 days before her third anniversary. Did sign up for that email alert stuff, just got one, received your application, expect to hear something in 330 days. Still hasn't changed, but we didn't care, wife had a renewed foreign passport and a fresh ten year card.

But just two months later she received her interview notice, oh my God, have to study for that civics test. Did tell her if she passed to ask about the oath letter, was told she should get it within two weeks, we weren't really concerned, let seven weeks go by, so picked up the phone and called my senator again. You feel like you are in the twilight zone again. Just two hours after that call, St. Paul sent us an oath letter, email, with her oath scheduled in three days and a letter of apology from the office manage. Hardly enough time to schedule a day off, but got it done. Processing site, still there for her, this is like three years later, still says to expect to hear something in 330 days.

Stepdaughter played around, was rejected by the USCIS because she barely turned 18, but had an opportunity to study in England and needed a US passport. That went real quick for her until she got a letter that a decision cannot be made at this time. Rather than fooling around, called my senators office again. Learned the USCIS has a two word vocabulary, "misplaced" and "miscommunication".

While your interview letter says to contact your IO if you have any questions, positively no way to contact them, just like calling that 800 number and speaking to whoever is on the other end of the line never became familiar with USCIS instructions, forms, or anything else.

Wow, that's quite an ordeal for a journey. Thank goodness USCIS has been easy on me from the time we did K1 till this very day. My only problem now is it's taking quite some time for them to schedule my oath ceremony. BUT, since the IO told me that it could take 2 mos -- email notice said I should get the sched in 45 days when they put my case on oath taking queue -- I'm keeping still and not too worried about it. Now, after 45 days and still nothing, then it's time for me to make some phone calls.
