Hi VJers :)

Possibly my final question regarding submitting our K1 petition, and thank-you for all the incredibly rapid responses I've recieved recently. This is an incredibly generous group here, and for this I am extremely grateful.

So basically I have this wad of printed paper.

I've done the cover letters and letters of intent etc so the actual technical paperwork side is fine and collated at the front.

My thing is we've added evidence of our ongoing relationship and its surprising how bulky it is. We had three trips in all prior to now and I've broken it down chronologically into Visit 1: passport stamps, pics (labelled/bagged/bag labelled then attached), email, other bits and pieces, and so on.

I'm worried about sending it all with just paper clips or staples. Would I be revealing my inner OCD to put it all in nice plastic binder with clear plastic pockets for the paper? manilla folders perhaps? or better to just make sure its correctly collated and stick to paper clips or staples? and deliver the paper chunk as is.

P.S We haven't added more than was required on the USCIS filing info sheet, and what has been suggested here in the K1 guide, but still it seems weighty and I'm concerned not only about causing an immigration officer to go into a coma but for bits of paper to go missing mysteriously about the office and slowing the process down.

Any thoughts or ideas most appreciated, cheers :)

When I send my petition, I used 3 hole binder. There is no any kind of format that you have to use. USCIS don't care how you compile the papers. You can find any way that interests you. I advise you to put first the cover page and next the table of contents and put them in the order of the content.

Good luck

You only need to provide proof of having met within the previous 2 years for the initial petition. Primary evidence such as copies of boarding passes, passport/visa stamps, hotel receipts showing both names etc. and as secondary evidence photos (only need around 5 or so, some can include family members etc ) showing you together which you label (names, location, date) on the back. You could include some significant emails, but generally these, chat logs etc can be used for the interview later on as part of the proof of ongoing relationship. Hope this helps.

(Some people do front load their petitions by having lots of additional evidence, but this seems to be mainly in high risk countries where their proof of relationship may be challenged).

Stick to the paperclips. Everything will be taken apart and scanned. Furthermore, an adjudicator will organize a file according to their own preference.

OP, if you want to frontload your petition, do it. You have to do what you are the most comfortable with. Anything you include at the begining automatically becomes part of the file that will be seen by a CO. IMO, the interview is not the best time to try to submit evidence for the first time. I'm not suggesting anyone go to an interview empty handed, far from it. However, I have seen people post time and time again that evidence they try to give to a CO is given right back without so much as a glance OR it is never asked for by a CO.

With having gone through the process recently, and personally traveled to the Philippines and seen and read through our USCIS file (am the USC), they hole punch it at the top of the page (2 hole punch). Everything else, like binders, clips, staples and the such are thrown away as soon as they get the package. We had sent ours in only stacked in order (the check was paper clipped to the front, but nothing else). We did take the entire timet o get approved, but count that as being my wife is from the Philippines.

My personal suggestion, is KISS (Keep It Stupid Simple......meaning keep it as simple as possible, as the person that will get it, might be stupid (even a stupid person can figure it out), and the more complicated it is, the more chances of them screwing it up.) I believe there are instructions from USCIS (not sure if from them or from here) saying what is allowed and what is not allowed. I THINK it mentions NOT to send it in binder clips, ASCO clips, or folders.

Good luck!!!!

In some high fraudulent countries, most embassies’ CO come to a decision JUST ONLY by looking to the approved petition sent from the USCIS via NVC, so it is advisable to use a “Front Load” petition to the USCIS to make sure the CO at the embassy see the evidences before interviewing the K-1 applicant.

All you need to prove is that you have met in the last 2 years as Andy said all the other stuff is secondary and will be used at interview stage if they want it. A few pics dated and written where they were taken your letter of intent and your ID as asked for to be sent in with 129f petition. Paperclip it all and put in a business size envelope placed in a Priority envelope and send. OZ is not a high fraud country and so you don't need to go over board with evidence. Keep it simple but complete of the instructions.

Divorced !st November 2012.

Married only 2 years 1 month

Then don't send so much. Your not from a high fraud country, so no need for extra. Send it for the interview if you wish.

I used a combination of paper clips and binder clips and a large rubber band. USCIS will bust it all apart and organize it into their folders anyway.

Any thoughts or ideas most appreciated, cheers :)
