All you need is to get your passport stamped at the POE--it is a temporary green card--and then you are ready to rock and roll. It may take a few weeks for the actual green card to show up in the mail, but it doesn't matter since the stamp in your passport gives you all the rights and responsibilities of a green card holder.

Hi,

got the IR1 Visa and I am moving to the states on tuesday with my big brown envelope.

Do I need to do anymore paperwork to get the actual green card or will it be automatically mailed to the address I indicated in the visa application?

Congratulations on receiving the visa!

Fortunately, there is no more paper work for you to do after your arrival in the US (until the citizenship). All you have to do is wait for your (10 year) GC and SSN card to arrive in the mail.

Correct with regard to the green card but for the social security card, it will only be automatic if the correct boxes were checked on Part II of the DS230.
