We only need protection from rules they make. Don't make the rules in the first place. Why is government in any way involved in marriage anyway? Why is government deciding who can get married?

The problem is not that Gay marriage is illegal, the problem is that there is a law one way or the other.

Marriage could just as easily be done by religious organizations and private businesses and the marriage could be "registered" to provide a means for support in future lawsuits, divorce proceedings or for benefits such as insurance, death benefits etc. The only "law" we NEED is one saying the marriage must be registered in order to receive the protections and benefits. And the prtections and benefits should really be limited to private agreements. Insurance, wills, etc. There should, for example, be no tax benefit or penalty for being married other than what two individuals receive when combined as one. No one in the government needs to say who is "allowed" to get married. I would not even care if they allowed bigamy...what difference does it make to anyone else? It is a private contract between the parties involved, that is all it is and all it ever was.

The government installs obstacles which are not needed and then you cheer for freedom when one of them is taken down? ####### was it doing there in the first place????? How the heck do you think the government should be involved in private living arrangements?

I am glad that more people will be able to get married or enjiy the benefits but this is in no way striking a blow for freedom...it is simply giving the government MORE power.

If you want freedom, get the effin' government out of our lives in any way possible.
