In Canada they riot when their team LOSES!

I saw some of the pics of that riot on yahoo. No surprise there though...they rioted in Vancouver last time they lost the big one in 2004.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Being that is IS Canada, I look forward to them coming back tomorrow to clean up and apologize for their bad behavior. They will probably buff out the burned cars also.

Personally they can p*ss on that part of Canada for all I care. It was the US that built the ALCAN highway, yet it's those BC canucks that go out of their way to screw Americans, especially Alaskans on gas, food, etc.. a long that road. They have three prices ...one for canucks and locals, one for Americans, and one for Alaskans.

In fact it was Canada that started screwing Americans wanting to travel through there on extra charges for any past driving offenses no matter how far they went back yet those same canucks had no problem crossing US border check points in Washington state buying gas and cigs thus driving up the prices for Americans living in said border towns.

The Alaska Aces (this years Kelley Cup champs btw  ) are in the same division as the Victoria Salmon Kings and those players say the worst part of the season is when they have to travel to Victoria to play. Those fans are big time ####### holes with as much class as a rabid pit bull on crack.

Vanhongkong, BC ...not the ideal place for play away games.

Are u implying that the hooligans came from Washington?

No. I am implying that they may have to go to Washington to get their wounds stitched up in a timely manner.

Why would Canadians buying gas and cigarettes at American service stations in border towns drive up the price? I understand supply and demand but in this sort of microcasm, the service station can simply buy more at the same price. They might even be able to negotiate a price break due to a larger order quantity. The Canadians are not buying enough to have a meaningful effect on the supply. As long as the service station understands that there is more demand, they can restock and just make better money. The station might even be able to further lower prices simply because more sales means they can survive on a lower gross margin (obviously this would only happen in the right competitive market, but it's possible).

Really, the only explanation for Canadian buyers driving up prices would be gouging by the service station owners since the Canadians would still think it's a good deal compared to Canadian service stations. But that just means you need some more competition.

Rephrasing--the comment-writers thought that the rioters in Vancounver post-SC included many familiar faces from last year's anti-G8 protest (which was held about 4,000 km away in Pigtown/Toronto), with Vancouver police confirming that several of the protesters were involved in anti-Olympics protests in Vancouver last year.
