Hello there. I read on a wiki here that there is a size limit of 10mb for electronic processing through NVC but I don't see that number listed anywhere on their website... Is this a correct number or just best guess?

Our i864 packet is ready to send, however its about 24mb...

If it is 10mb limited, is there any way to shrink this pdf down? We use MacOS... Have Adobe but not Acrobat...

Thank you for your time.

I don't know about NVC, but many email programs cannot send or receive anything in excess of 10 MB--if someone has the definitive answer for NVC, that would be great. But even if their limit is much higher, it's possible you still can't send it due to limitations on your end. Send it to your self right now and see if that works, and let us know.

If you can't then break it into pieces, and send them separately.

It isn't the total size of the packet but the size of each individual attachment. If you are compiling everything in to one big pdf then that is not the best option. You will probably have trouble sending it through your email system regardless of any NVC limits. Have the I-864 as a pdf, each month's bank statements as pdf's, each years tax returns/transcripts as pdf's and so on. Depending on how you are creating the pdf's there is a lot of header info that increases the size dramatically. Look for a program to reduce the size of the pdf's to something more manageable. There are several out there and you can look on google for info on these. The individual pdf files should all be managabel as less than 1 mb. If they are bigger than this then you need to use one of the programs to "shrink" them.

Turn the resolution size on your scanner down a notch and see if that helps.

10 megabytes was so so so 2009-ish, don't you agree? At least that was the case when I wrote the darn thing.

tis 2011, time for some edits, ya?

Hello everyone,

I just spoke to an NVC operator and was informed that there is no file size maximum on THEIR end. (so yeah, Darnell... hehe update away) :)

He did inform me however, that this does not mean that there is no maximum on the senders end! :)

Another thing worth noting is: I was under the impression that packets sent electronically needed to be in ONE .pdf file, however I was informed by the NVC representative that this is not the case. He told me that breaking down the files is no problem at all.

I think the bigger shocker, really (and truly) is that you actually got a Human that knew something about EP. That's mondo frickin rare. As rare as finding a poutine stall in Corsicana TX.

The NVC Representative Lied!

Our 24MB package was rejected by the US Government server for being too large. We just shrunk it down to 10MB and hit send... again.

Hopefully it works out this time.

Just thought everyone would want to know.

My husband went to his email server prior to sending this email to check on size limits, if any. He said that his server has virtually no limits.

Our smaller packet sent just fine. We received the confirmation email 1 hour later.

Hmmm. 552 is a size limit exceeded error. My I-864 packets sent yesterday came in at around 1.5MB for both the CR-1 and CR-2 filing. What resolution did you use?

Alex.

OK. I'm going to scream! :bonk:

I first get an email saying I was enrolled.

Next I send my I-864 packet.

Then I get an email saying it's rejected because I wasn't enrolled.

I called them today and the lady on the phone said, "yes, you were enrolled 2 days before the date I sent the I-864 packet".

I normally try not to put down to malice what I can put to incompetence and this definitely seems like the latter.
