Can I apply for the citizenship in a year??

Hello

I know that you can apply for the American citizenship after three years of being a resident but does it apply after the first two years? you know, when you have the conditional residence? or is it after the 10 year resident card?

Three years from the date of the GC-status starting. So, you will need to have filed the I-751 to remove conditions, and then wait 275 days after the 2-year-card's expiry (if you haven't received the 10-year card by then) before applying N-400.

3 years from the date your permanent residence began, so yes we can all apply for citizenship a year after filing for ROC (if based on marriage.)

hi vicky, i believe its 3 years after you get your conditional 2-yr GC as long as you are still married.....or 5 years if you are not married.

Look at your Green Card. Any of your Green Cards. On the front is a field reading: RESIDENT SINCE xx/xx/200x. That's the magic date. Exactly 3 years later is the earliest you can become one of us. Exactly 90 days before that is the earliest USCIS can hammer the stamp RECEIVED on your N-400 application.

Thanks so much for the quick answer!!! I have just sent my ROC last week (for the 10 year residence)I still have my conditional 2 year-residence card. I will definitively do that. I am so done with all this paperwork!!! One more and that's it!!!!
