Comments : Everything was very smooth. I went through immigration and the lady didnt ask me anything, I gave her the sealed envelope, she opened it. I was a little worried because I had my x-ray exam in my luggage and she told me it wasnt necessary at that time. She took my fingerprints and she told me to go all the way dowm the hall. She gave me back everything and I went to a room where a few of people were. I left the documents on the desk and then an immigration officer took it. I waited and waited and then he called me. He asked me when we were getting married. I said: December 8th; and he asked: am I invited to the wedding? and I said: of course. Then he gave me my passsport with my I-94 and the employment authorization stamped in the back of the I-94 form. He wished me good luck and I was ready to go.

Consulate Review: Peru
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 10, 2008
Embassy Review : I got there at 8am. They sent me to window 14 where I gave the forms (D156, D156K and the other form enclosed in the package). Then I sat down for one hour waiting and waiting and very nervous but I was trying to be calm. I was a little down since I saw some couples waiting for their turn and I was alone!! . After one long hour, I was called to window 10. This nice lady asked me for my birth certificate,my medical exam, my fiance's tax returns and his affidavit of support. She started telling me about her new boyfriend and how she met him (online) and i told her that we met online through a website called Eharmony, a different website to find the love of your life. She asked me how different it was so I told her the whole story (I had all the stages we went through before we actually talked to easchother). She asked me for pictures but I had a photo album and it couldnt get through the window so she said: that's ok, your fiance sent some pictures so I think that's enough. If the consul asks you for more pictures, show him your photo album. After that, probably 20 minutes talking, she told me to sit down and wait for the consul to call me. At that time, I was less nervous; I waited for about one hour looking at the people getting their visas, others got the yellow slips. Before the consul called me, there was a girl asking for her K1 visa and she got approved. So I was happy because if she got her visa and was alone, I also could do it. After her, the consul called me. I started to get more nervous. The consul was young very nice and with a good sense of humor. I signed my D156 and got my prints. He asked me if my fiance came with me, I said: no, he couldnt; he had to work. Where does he work? what does he do? He is a senoir court clerk in the criminal court in Brooklyn...OH!! a senior court clerk!!!...I was more calm...then he asked me: when was the last time you saw him? ...June 2007....oh but it's a long time, almost a year and a half....yes, but we get in touch everyday through emails, chat, text messages, etc, etc....how did he propose??....on the phone, when he told me he couldnt live like that so he proposed to me and I accepted it. But he promised me that when he picked me up from the airport, he would give me the ring!!!....well call him and tell him to buy right now....in that moment I was in heaven because that meant i got the visa and i saw him taking the pink slip and i said to myself: YESSSSSSSSSSS....and he told me: just remember, when you have children, speak with them in spanish, dont loose your language...I said to him: of course!!!, I want my children to communicate with their grandparents and family here in Peru....then he said: congratulations in your new life!!
I took the pink slip and went outside to DHL to get the passport delivered. It was 16 soles. I have to pick it up on Wednesday 15th!!! ...I called my fiance and he was as happy as me!!!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
