Just trying to get an idea on what happens next. I sent the packet in and it was received by them. They put up a date of 08/12/06 as the updated date, I assume that is when they are saying they received the packet in and everything? I think they actually got the mail like 8/3/06 or something. What happens next though? Will I just wait for something in the mail? Am I unrealistically thinking that my fiancée will be able to come here around March of next year?

Thanks in advance for any info you guys can provide.

Reunited for good and it feels so good!

The lack of information in your profile makes it difficult to estimate when your fiance would be issued a visa.

Vermont SC is approving petitions with about a 2-3 week average.

California SC is currently working on a backlog and some cases are taking as long as 6 months.

From petition approval, I would anticipate another month for NVC and approx. 3 months for processing at your fiance's embassy.

Try using the 'Immigration Timelines' and filtering to look at cases similar to yours.

Good luck.

The embassy in Manila is slower than many, to expect only 3 months might be a bit optimistic, currently it seems to be taking 3 to 5 months there..

Only a guess but I would guess you'll probably have to wait somewhere in the neighborhood of 9 months. (if you filed at California,Texas or Nebraska)

Good luck

Have you gotten NOA1 yet? An update saying they've received the petition? After sending the packet, next thing would be NOA1. Then hopefully approval (NOA2), if you don't get any RFEs.

As for how long it'll take, hard to estimate, since you haven't told which service center you've filed with.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Thanks for all of your help. I'm pretty lost with the process actually. I did get an I-797C, Notice of Action in the mail.

Received Date: July 24, 2006

Notice Date: August 5, 2006

Notice Type: Receipt Notice. Amount received: $170.00

I filed at the California Service Center.

When I check online it always says they are processing papers from March 8. It never changes.

I guess my main concern is I do not want to hold up the process on anything my fiancée or I need to get or send back. I don't want them to be waiting for something from us and we not know it so we just delay the process even longer. I haven’t received anything else in the mail other than this letter. Again, thanks for the input and help, we both really appreciate it.

Reunited for good and it feels so good!

Don't worry - you've done all you can for now unless they send you a request for something more (which should not happen unless you forgot to sign something or send something).

CSC is very backlogged - that's why you see March 8 as the processing date. Plan at 6 months for processing in the US + however long it takes in her country. That way, if it happens faster, you'll just be happy instead of disappointed at having to wait 6 months!

All you can do now is wait unless you receive a request for additional information. Hard to say how long it will take for CSC to approve it. Some people have been waiting 6 months, but they are working on releaving the backlog so it could be less time. As kitkat says, plan on waiting 5-6 months that way you are prepared for the worst.

After CSC approves it, be prepared to wait another few months while it gets processed in Manila. You will be required to provide additional paperwork once it gets to Manila, but all you can do now is wait.

I believe that the March 8 date shown by CSC no longer has ANYTHING to do with which files they are processing. Instead, it is the 6 months they give themselves before they consider themselves late.

Right now CSC is working off a big backlog from a change in the law and forms in the spring. They should have March, April and May processed in September, and June and most of July processed in October. You will probably get your NOA2 in late November or early December. After that, it seems to be taking another 5 months until the interview in the Phillipines. But individual results can vary widely.

Keep reading here and you'll be well informed, and make some friends. Misery loves company. But you'll have plenty of time to relax, read, learn a foreign language, etc. :reading::reading::reading:

Don't suppose there is anything to speed things once we are at that part of the process right? Just kind of random on whether it goes quick or slow?

I just hope things don't end up like they normally do for me.....always manage to end up going as bad as possible instead of getting lucky and going smoothly. I only hope this goes smooth as I miss the hell out of her. I'm sure that I am no where near the only one that feels like this though. Guess I just wait and see since there isnt much else I can do at this point.
