This happened to us too, although it was my wife's conditional green card that was sent to the wrong address. I wrote a very angry letter and asked for a fee waiver for the I-90, which they surprisingly granted. What really made me mad was that we called them about every 3-4 weeks for about 5 months and they would always tell me that it had been returned and that we "just need to wait 30 more days." Finally, a supervisor admitted that they did not have it.

yeah I do not want to be stuck in any waiting game. If it's not returned, it's not returned, simple as that. Thanks for sharing your experience Indy.

I guess I am going to give up and wait until June 10th to start harassing USCIS for good, still no GC in the mail. I am wondering why their new mailing system became crappier than before.

I dunno, I don't think I'd give up just yet. I'd try to get help from a congressman. Or if this is still going on after 30 days CIS omsbudsman possibly? It's very unfortunate. The upside is we have our approval letters, but my worry is down the road if they keep stalling and his extension runs out for work and travel, then what? He needs a GC, they harass at the airport enough with proper documentation, let alone if something is missing. I guess we cross that bridge when we come to it.

Another worry is the GC ending up in the wrong hands. Identity theft is not a good thing at all.

LOL. NO way. It hasn't even been sent back from SC! I called again and asked to ask to a tour supervisor on the floor at the mail facility. Got a bunch of attitude about it being in a probable dead letter pile.

They're produced in Kentucky, not sure what the return address is on the envelope. If they do find it if it will be going back to KY or VT. No answers, but I did get a letter from USCIS saying that if in 60 days it is not return to file a I-90 and to send a copy of the letter which states the fee is waived. At least that is resolved if it does come to that.

Have you made any headway?

if he needs 'proof' soonish,

it may be possible to get an I-551 stamp in his passport

at/during

an InfoPass appointment at yer local USCIS office.

With that stamp in his passport and a SSN, he can work, immediately, these 2 things satisfy the I-9 documentation requirement.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thanks. He'll get that stamp before the 1 year extension runs out if it's still being held up in any kind of processing or god knows.

Congrats to all who are approved and who have gotten their GC though, I think this sort of thing is rare, or I hope so.

Those of you have gotten GC's recently, on your envelope was there a return address and what was it? Your service center?

Our experience was very very very frustrating. I KNEW I was moving before the consulate interview so I called and filed sent letters emails to everyone and everything that bore any connection to our case, and had proof every correspondence assuring me that the address was correct they knew where to send any and all mail.

Well ultimately we were told that when she entered the country on her first POE she should verify and report the address she wanted to have her SS card (which never even came or got processed either go figure) and her conditional GC sent. I mean I hit every step at least 5 times correspondence along the way. She entered the country and showed verbally AND in writing and asked AGAIN and again will this address be the correct address.

So after arrival and all that emotional drainage, we waited and waited for the green card to show up and yup you guessed it it never showed up.

So began a roller coaster of he said she said. Basically we were told that "state department and immigration and USCIS computers don't talk to each other?" huh?

So the communication between the post office, USCIS and whoever would listen took months of frustration with blame being pointed all around, but as usual the end customer is the one to suffer. We had 2 local office appointments, I talked to USPS supervisors, the call center second level supervisors.

Ultimately we were told it was our fault for moving and we should have done a change of address and we wouldn't have had this problem, didn't we read the instructions?

I was also told this would be considered a lost or stolen card and we would have to just file the I-90 and pay the fee.

Well despite the obvious 1000 foot wall of government ####### and inefficiency, I front loaded a scathing preponderance of evidence to the contrary that this was my fault and sent the I-90 with demand that the fee be waived and someone take ownership of their error.

So after awhile with no fanfare and very anti-climatically, the green card showed up in the mail finally.

Since then We bought a house last year, and not wanting to repeat any of this clownery in our removal of conditions, we changed addresses a bunch of times online in the mail called the USCIS number, and I got a receipt that they accepted my change of address but nowhere do they acknowledge my wife's change of address. I don't get it, I am the sponsor they care about that but the permanent resident doesn't deserve receipt?

So I will file the ROC this summer and all the memories of the first process come flooding back. *sigh*

I'm pretty sure there was no return address on mine. I say that because I recall that I almost threw it out as junk mail. :o But that was a number of years ago so it could have changed since then.

Good grief. That is ridiculous. I don't know what's going on with them but this site is rife with the stories on changing your address during any part of the process. As for the PR not getting a receipt but the US citizen getting one..... I remember commenting to my husband about that. It's just weird. And rude.

That just completely sucks. One question: didn't you guys get a confirmation number after filing the AR-11 online? It's not a paper document, like you get for the I-865, but it still counts as proof, right? We mentioned this confirmation number, and date it was filed, in our cover letter for the I-751, and put our new address in bold.

They should take instruction from the IRS, none of their mail ever fails to get here, never.

Your experience, what a nightmare Dan & Juan.

Well if there is no return address, I guess I'm sitting around for 60 days for no good reason. What gets me is we never even changed our address! We've never moved once! How ridiculous.

USCIS new priority mailing system couldn't be any worst, sheesh. I spoke to an IO, he had to put in a service request on my case because my GC is no where to be found.

I received my gc on 05/23/11 and the envelope is from USPS, I thought it was a junk letter and almost threw it out.

I looked at the letter which the gc came in and it does have a USPS tracking number as well as the return address for VSC on the top left hand corner.

Hope this helps!
