After many calls to the USCIS finally I got to speak with a IO today regarding my husband's green card never arriving. Last tracking update is now: Undeliverable as addressed. Why? Because it was sent to SC, not PA where we live. I was told the last time I talked with them that it arrived at "the" post office, although it is not *our* post office.

Today the IO tells me that their address they have on file for us is somewhere in SC. We've never lived in SC, I never filled out any change of address for SC and all of our other USCIS mail has come to this address in PA.

Now they're telling us we have to wait 10 more days to see if it is returned to them. And if not an I-90 to replace the green card.

I hope they don't try to pull any ####### that they did send it to the right address and try to blame us.

Good luck. Print off everything you can from the electronic notices/online status. If it was sent back as undeliverable then it's obvious you never received it and you should not be expected to pay for their error.

The upside is that it was undeliverable and not delivered and in the wrong hands. The downside is if it is not returned to them, trying to convince them that there isn't/shouldn't be a filing fee for the I-90 may be tedious yes.

Also I asked him if they would just send it back to my husband at our address and he said he had to update my address in the system? My address should have never changed. And the question remains why did I get the approval letter HERE where we live yet not the card? Our address changed in 4 days?

So when hopefully if it is returned and I call in 10 days as instructed it will be sent out to this address without any hassle, but I can't really be all that optimistic...

An update in case anyone else finds themselves in the same predicament, hopefully not.

My congressman returned my call today, took down the information, and called my local field office. They have my address for the I-751 or HAD the address as being in SC, an error on their part. So, they updated the address and told me the person he talked to at our field office will be checking weekly for its return to the VSC. Once it is sent back to the VSC he said they will mail it to this correct address.

The tracking isn't showing any activity since May 16th, I called the post office in SC to talk to them about procedure and how long it takes to be returned. She couldn't tell me much, only that it could take a while and to keep checking the usps site with the delivery confirmation number to see if it updates.

Yeah I'd much rather deal with my field office. They're really nice and helpful each time we've gone there. Even the IO on the phone was nice. The customer service reps? Not so much.

I fear that the same might happen to us, I still go to check the mail not even expecting to see my GC, and sure enough everything is there but no sign of GC from USCIS, why is it taking so long to get that when my approval letter arrived 5 days after approval.

Simel how did you get a tracking number for your GC, what did you do. cause the misinformation line told me its only for EAD employment authorization only.

I asked to speak to a level 2. I was tired of fooling with those customer service reps. When I got the IO, I quoted him the SMI they recently implemented from their website.

He was able to give me the tracking number.

For you, I would think you would need to find out if your card production was ordered and if not WHY NOT. I'm not sure why it's only an EAD card production for you, when you're waiting on your GC! I would have the IO explain that one to me cause that sounds like another foul up.

Sounds to me that yours was never produced and hopefully you can get them to turn something up. It doesn't sound like yours was produced and sent to an incorrect address. I hope not. Good luck.

Ask for a level 2, to be transferred to an Immigration Officer.

USCIS Improves Delivery of Immigration Documents through Secure Mail Initiative

WASHINGTON—U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has fully implemented the Secure Mail Initiative (SMI), which uses U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation to deliver certain immigration documents in a safe, secure and timely manner.

Made possible by a partnership between USCIS and the USPS, the SMI enables USCIS to confirm delivery of permanent resident cards and documents pertaining to travel and employment authorization. With USPS tracking information, USCIS customers can easily stay up-to-date on the delivery status of their documents and USCIS can confirm that these essential documents were delivered to the proper address.

SMI provides USCIS customers many benefits, including:

The ability to track the status of their documents with USPS tracking information

Quicker delivery—on average, documents sent through USPS Priority Mail should arrive two to four business days sooner than with first-class mail

Customers who receive notices of approval can contact USCIS’s Customer Service Center at 800-375-5283 to request tracking information for their documents. USCIS customer service representatives will provide customers with their USPS tracking number and current USPS delivery status.

Customers should wait at least two weeks after getting their approval notice before calling for information regarding their cases. When requesting tracking information, customers must also provide information from the receipt notice they received when they submitted their initial application. After receiving the tracking number from the USCIS Customer Service Center, customers can track the delivery status by visiting the Postal Service website at www.usps.com and entering the USPS tracking number into the Track & Confirm field.

SMI was one of several enhancements resulting from USCIS’s 2007 final fee schedule. USCIS first piloted the initiative in July 2008, delivering all re-entry permits and refugee travel documents using USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. USCIS has also used SMI processes since July 2009 for re-mailing all permanent residence cards, as well as employment authorization and travel documents returned by the USPS to USCIS as undeliverable.

Thank You Simel, today if I check and I dont see my GC, I will give them a call back and ask to speak with an IO. I will keep calling until I receive a tracking number.
