I hope you guys can help me.

I've been researching the internet for hours but I can't find a definite answer.

I'm a USC and I went to the Philippines to marry my wife on Dec 31 2010.

I filed the I-130 on April 29 2011.

I used her maiden name on the application, her full name at birth.

Did her name change automatically after our marriage???

Is her middle name supposed to be her former surname and did she take my last name??

Do I need to call the USCIS to change her name and then have my wife change her passport, IDs, clearances, etc. to reflect her new last name?

Please help!!

Not sure if there's come weird legal thing in Philippines, but in the USA your name only changes if you request it to change at the time of marriage. Its the same as legally changing your name outside of marriage, but its included on marriage licenses to make things easier.

Yes I think it's something specific to the Philippines. Nowhere in the marriage license application or marriage certificate did it ask to change my wife's name. At least from what I remember.

She didn't automatically change her name but she was able to change her name.

She will get the visa in her passport name, and her GC in her visa name so if she actually wants to take your name then you should change her passport and when she goes to apply for her visa stuff she SHOULD be able to write her married names on the form no issue (as in after the petitions been approved and all that).

Is there a way to move this topic to the Philippines section? I don't want to create a duplicate thread.
