Lise,

Congratulations!!

We're very happy for you indeed!!

Now you can visit Canada and return without hassle at border crossings! :)

Bobby, I tested out my greencard a few weeks ago to pick up my granddaughter. When I reentered to the USA I passed along to the border potral my passport & greencard and my granddaughter's passport & permission letter from her parents. He went inside and seemed to be taking some time. My granddaughter asked me what he was doing and I thought maybe he was calling my daughter to verify her letter. He returned a few minutes later, returned our documents and told me it took awhile because he removed the I-94 extension from my passport to surrender to the Homeland Security and thought it would be easier to just go ahead and do it rather than have us come inside. He wished us a nice day, no questions on what I had spent and no looking in the trunk! All in all it was the easiest crossing ever! Lise

F-word, f-word, f-word, f-word. Finally got a text on AOS stating status changed but it turns out we'll be getting an RFE in the mail.

I would rather have had our case stay in Columbus and gone through the interview. At least we would be done by now.

Now we just have to wait for the RFE so that we can respond. Please let it be something simple.

I hear your frustration! My AOS RFE was simple, they needed a signature (not sure how or if I missed it to begin with). I responded the next day, sent regular post with confirmation of receipt. It was soon after that I got notified of my approval. I was really nervous then because it meant traveling to Canada with my advance parole. Hopefully you will get your notice this week and have it back on its way to USCIS. I wonder if anyone from our group is waiting??? Anybody from our group have anything interesting going on??? Any luck with job hunting. My MA degree is not getting me anywhere...frustrating for sure!

Have a nice day Decemberites!

Lise

We finally sent our RFE response (visit to the Civil Surgeon)on Saturday, so hopefully, our GC will arrive within a month. The hubs is employed, has a license and a car (which he has wrecked twice - once he hit our apartment building and he rear-ended me twice last Thursday)and a credit card.

The hubs says no babies until he sees all 50 states. So far, we've knocked off OH, IN, IL, KY, WV, PA, VA, MD, DE, and NY. Not too shabby...we can knock another 5 off when we visit my parents next year. What we need is a two week road trip (on which I'll be driving, see above).

Hey guys and girls. Just getting a minute to sit down and see what everyone has been up to. We have been adjusting to married life, trying to get through driving lessons, credit card applications, etc. like everyone else. We had a horrible prejudiced experience with an employer not wanting to hire Ola because he was Nigerian but God has seen fit to provide another opportunity as of this week. Hope all is well with everyone else. Love you guys

Thanks for the update, it's quite an adventure isn't it? How have you guys been with food? I hate to keep using the word adventure, but that would describe our cross culture eating habits. Pork, chicken, anything "adobo" has all been good, but not all has been good, and sometimes rice gets old to me. I remember making Jenie's first steak, it was a well aged top sirloin, I thought she would love it! Wrong. :bonk: The first thing she made me do was put it back on the grill and cook the life out of the poor thing, NO PINK! Then of course was something called "bicol express" I took a bite and it was like a 3 alarm fire in my mouth. It's been great fun and some disappointment but we adapt, I have learned that I like spicy and Jen now loves steak and actually asks for medium rare. Yup, it's an adventure!

Hi everyone, and Happy Thanksgiving to the Canadian Decemberites!

Michael and I have made it through our first year of marriage!!

I still say had it not been for immigration it would have been much easier. But, he is such a kind, patient man that it makes everything less stressful. There are few quirks for

me to still get used to in the USA, at least I don't say that I want to go back to Canada every other day anymore...that's a good thing right? The job search has been more than frustrating! Finding a job in what I was educated and trained for is not looking positive.

But.......I was referred for a job with Delta and have made it through the first 2 screenings. It will mean moving to a different part of MN...of course I will notify USCIS, 5 weeks training, and 6 months probation. With any luck and by the graces of God I will have full time employment after training and probation!

Have a great day everyone,

Lise

Food has been a challenging adventure lol. He swears Americans eat too much bread and too many sweets. The first time he made spaghetti I thought I would need my lips and esophagus replaced after the 3rd degree burns. But we have since come into a better understanding of who cooks what and how spicy. So one year later we havent killed each other with our cooking, cultural differences, income issues, etc. so it must be love (L)

Lise,

So glad you guys have survived year one too. I was afraid our Decemberite group would be like some other groups with lots of divorces and people returning to their native countries. Being patient is a virtue that I am not gifted with but thank God my husband is or we may not have made it this far. He had the same issues with job hunting in his field but found something to get his foot in the door and we are hopeful it will open more doors. You guys will be in my prayers.

Husband and I are still waiting for my green card to show up. We were transferred to CSC in February and they are falling behind. I remember waiting for my NOA2 from VSC. Now CSC is lagging behind. These two service centers are driving me crazy.

Well, that sucks. They just got my RFE last Friday.

Do you have to file an EAD extension just in case the AOS is still processing? Have you called to check on the status - this wait seems very exorbitant.

My husband's drivers license expires in April when his EAD expires. I hope we all get processed before we have to start refiling stuff.

I assume you have to refile. Luckily i got my EAD in mid February otherwise i could be in a bad situation. I'm working full time at an underwriters and they won't hang around to fill my position if i am unable to work!

Forgot to say i never called as they clear me on to the next step just before the deadline! They have 60 days for a decision on my RFE so October 31st i should know!
