Hi, I'm a little confused about something regarding the AOS in regards to a CR1 Visa. I mailed my AOS Friday, April 29th to the NVC, and I included with it what I thought were my tax transcripts for the last 3 years. I went to my local IRS Office earlier that day (Boston) and asked for my tax transcripts. What I got was about 6 pages for each with a listing of the numbers that match up to my tax returns for 2010, 2009 and 2008. The guy I delat with also stamped each with an IRS stamp with the current date. So, it looked good to me. Then, for my own records, I ordered tax transcripts to me mailed to me. I got them today (they were mailed from Philadelphia), and yes it has all the same info, but it is only 3 pages and looks more organized and clearly states each year each transcript is for, which I had trouble understanding on the transcripts I got from the local IRS Office. So, I'm a bit worried. Why do they have the same info, but look different? And why weren't the years as clearly stated, if at all, on the transcripts from the local IRS Office? Should I contact the NVC or am I overthinking? Thank you for your help!

I was also wondering if anyone else has gone to the local IRS office for transcripts and what they recieved.

The 6 page one was the "tax return transcripts" while the 3 pager was the "tax account transcripts".

Hi, I'm a little confused about something regarding the AOS in regards to a CR1 Visa.

Somebody who entered the US with a CR-1 visa doesn't have to do AOS. He or she would enter the US as a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR), which is a Green Card holder. A Green Card holder doesn't need to adjust status.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

AOS in this case means Affidavit of Support which all IR-1/CR-1 applicants have to file at NVC.

Thank you for your reply.

So, they are a bit different, but does it matter if I send one over the other?

From what I understand, yes, it does. You should send the 6-page tax return transcript/s. I don't know what exactly is the difference, but that's what they want.

Holding my nose and jumping off the cliff.. hope I don't hit any rocks in the water.
