I visited in 2003 and was only able to see the cleaned up aftermath.. I couldn't even fathom what it would be like to be there in 2001.

I'll never forget the smell, for months afterwards of the burning rubble. For the next 2 years i lived there I couldn't close my drapes, ever(I had them closed that morning). And I worked for Red Cross for a few weeks afterwards. I heard stories from the recovery crews. You don't want to know. NYC was in a strange way really beautiful then. The solidarity was very strong. But it also made me more ready to move away.

I watched something the other day about one of the planes & had goosebumps. I also got teary & freaked out.

Yeah, must be pretty sweet in that bubble. I remember watching the buildings FALL DOWN outside my window, just over a mile away. I remember years of PTSD, still to this day. I can barely talk about it.

But then again, I doubt anyone not living in NYC or DC will ever grasp how huge it was.

Grew up on Long Island and went into NYC all the time. Was living/working in the DC metro area on 9/11 and was watching the Today Show when the second plane hit. Had friends and family in both lower Manhattan and the Pentagon, including the NYPD and NYFD. My boss in DC gave me a hard time for leaving early that day - and it took me hours to get from Georgetown to Arlington - but all I wanted to do was get home and find out where everyone was. As it turned out, everyone was safe and sound. But I don't think I want or need to relive it. Ever.

I was at work, and the company I worked for had an office in NY so someone called to talk to his brother and seemed rather upset. I didn't know, I don't turn on the tv when I'm getting ready for work, and I didn't listen to the radio that morning. I finally asked someone what was going on. I wanted to go home and.....

Yeah, we were told not to go in that day, except for key people to keep the necessary systems running... it was like a bad dream...

On Monday I will sit at my desk in my glass skyscrapper in boston and say a silent prayer for all who died in NY... I will watch the planes fly past our building on there way to land at logan and think of those poor people who were doing just that on 09/11/2001.... "There for the grace of God go I"

Yeah, it really didn't affect me all that much until the decided to announce it was Muslims! oh damn those Muslims... lol

I was only in the 7th grade anyhow, it seemed like a joke to us the second it hapenned, I don't think I quite understood what had hapenned for a few hours. (But you also have to blame the teachers, who made it sound like NOTHING had hapenned.)

SAME HERE

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
