when it comes to military matters, who do you thinkhas a more valid point of view? those who have been there, or those who never were?

Mm, Charles, I'd say currying favor to get sweet appointments is also part of a political career. However, if elections are your only criterion, he was elected to the House in 1962 and served four terms.

Oh wait I did in 2000... and in 2004 I did not vote for the FIRST time in a presidential election since I became old enough to vote! I did not like any of the candidates.

I always thought it suspicious that the biggest confusion and controversy from the 2000 election was in Florida which GDubya's brother was in charge of...coincidentally Jeb is a member of PNAC.

what i'm pointing out is that everyone practices politics, but he's a political appointee. so what if he does things for political gain or loss - he can be all the "politician" one might want or not want. and it's gw that put him there - no elections, no currying the favor of the populace.

in essence, there's a difference between a political appointee and an elected official - like who they answer to

I back-up Rumsfeld! Most of us in the Military know his job is not easy. It is very easy for people that know nothing about the military to critic the job done.
