I (the brazilian fiancée) just called USCIS to find out how long it will take for us to get approved.

We have filled in November 2010 - Vermont, and I know, yeah Vermont is taking more than 5 months to approve cases, etc, etc..the reason I am worried is that my parents are going to attend to our wedding, and they are going to the US only to be at the wedding, so the NOA2 would be a proof that we are going to get married. I thought that by this time we would have our NOA2, that's why we have scheduled my parents interview for May 3rd. Anyway, you know how long it takes to schedule a date at the consulate, and it's impossible to just change their interview date by now, or they would not be able to attend our wedding.

Anyway, I called USCIS and they said since I'm the beneficiary they can not help me with any information about my case. :(

They asked if my fiancé was here, I said no, and they said that if I need any information from them, my fiancée (USC) has to be one to call them. :(

I have tried to call them before, and they always tell me that...I thought it was just because we have not reached the 5 months at that time...:P

Why do you see that as a problem: you have your wedding set for August, your parents don't have to go the day they get their visa, they can travel any time after that

Oiiii Tacia,

Only the petitioner can call USCIS and inquire about the petition. Will they not accept the I-129F application NOA1 to show evidence that you guys are in this process? I will email you tonight with other thoughts and suggestions.

Good news, Mari and I got our interview date..!!!! May 24 @ 7:15am. Finally, I am going back to get my sweetheart. Talk to you soon.

Yeah Zara, they dont want to talk to us, haha...

Thanks, good luck to you too.

John,

This is great news!!!! That's awesome!! Soon you will be with your baby Mari:)

Ryan is sending me today the original NOA1 by mail and my parents will use that on their interview, but I think the NOA2 would be such a better document than the NOA1...

Anyway, I would really like to hear your ideas about what my parents should take with them to the consulate. Thank you!!! :)

I would just have a male friend who speaks English well make the call, although to be honest I've called them numerous times and they were never of any help. You need to have your fiance contact his congressman and keep calling them until they do something.

You don't need the nOA2 for your parents' interview. Just have them tell the consulate that their daughter is getting married in the US and they want to attend. That is what my in-laws did, and they got approved no problem. The interviewing officer did not even want to see their documentation showing ties to Brasil. Hopefully you will get your NOA2 soon! Good luck!

USCIS does not give any useful information even to US citizens. the number is free to call and the information is worth twice as much.

Are you suggesting that her male friend should lie and say that he IS the petitioner? BAD IDEA!

If the petitioner is interested in the petition and the overall process, he would be the one to be calling USCIS to inquire about the status of the case.

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.
