USC petitioning daughter over 21

hello'

my friend is asking for your help. she was just told by her aunt from the US that her petition already got approved wherein her dad petitioned her. Her dad is US citizen and since her age is over 21 and considering also she is from the Philippines, how long will she have to wait until her visa becomes available. Her father filed for her last 2008 and got approved feb 2011.. She was still not scheduled to any interview, medical exam whatsover. Hope you guys can help her. thanks

July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

She will have to wait for her priority date (PD) to become current before the processing continues. If she is unmarried she is in the F1 category and if she is married or marries prior to the PD becoming current she is in the F3 category. Currently the are processing (for the Philippines) F1 category PD of July 95 and F3 PD of Feb 92. So she has about a 15 year or so wait for a visa number to become available.

really? she was told by her aunt that she will wait only 1 year for her visa. 15 years is like forever!! she will be devastated to know this..

The actual visa process takes about a year, but there are limits to how many visas are issued for over 21 children of US citizens, and because of that, there is a waitinglist. As you have just found out, the waitinglist for the Philipines is very long :)

Priority date is when they received the petition, so in her case likely sometime in 2008.

It is 2011 now, so as her priority date is three years ago, it should take 12-13 years for the visa. Of course, waitingtimes can go up or down.
