Hi -

I am an LPR and I just want to know if I am already eligible to petition my father for an immigration visa. I am about to give birth to our 2nd baby and our first born is almost 17 months old. I work full time and my husband is about to attend summer school so we would really want some help from family members (we don't have any relatives in AZ).

I will be eligible to apply for US citizenship next year, February. We can wait to petition my dad until I'm a USC but if we can already sponsor him now that would be better. I guess what I'm trying to say here is which route should we choose? I believe my USC husband is not eligible to sponsor his father-in-law.

You cannot sponsor your father Until you become a US Citizen.

Your spouse cannot sponsor him.

Nope, You first need to become a U.S. Citizen, and your spouse cannot file it either, a citizen cannot petition an In-Law.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

ditto, you have to be a USC to file for your parents. you're right about your husband, he cannot file for your parents, only you can.

congrats on your new baby!!
