Copy or Original

Hello! I have just started to gather documents for AOS. I am not sure what documents need to be original, i don't want to make mistake and send copy instead.

My previous visa F-1, but I got married so I am little bit confused. Thank you very much!

No documents need to be original. You can send photocopies and then when you have your interview, they may ask to see the originals. Good luck.

Edit: Okay, some documents need to be original, like the forms themselves and any translations you have made especially for your application. Other documents that you need for your real life, like marriage cert and birth certificate should be copies.

If your document is two-sided make sure you make copies of both sides. For example, my birth certificate has stamps at the back and the IO in Vancouver consulate suggested me to copy both sides.

This is the incorrect link for this person, since they had an F-1 and are now married to a citizen. They will be filing a concurrent I-130/I-485. Granted, they did post in the wrong forum for their situation.

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.
