Hello everybody!

Just wondering for the near future.

My greencard will be with the married name but my spanish passport with the maiden name. Which one do I have to use in order to travel? Could it be a problem at the border? My family wants me to go visit as soon as I have the greencard so that's why I'm wondering.

Thank you in advance!

This is perfectly normal.

You'll need to travel (airlines especially) using the name in your passport. Upon reentry to the US - your passport and PR/Green Card will be what you need (even though the PR/Green Card is in your now-married name). Folks do it every day.

Some folks bring a copy of their marriage certificate but I have my doubts about a CBP officer wanting to see it.

You can travel in your Greencard name or passport name. It is a common misconception that it needs to be passport name. It needs to be the name of ANY government-issued photo ID. Some people prefer to play it safe and get it to match the passport.

Up to you really. I changed my passport while I was back in Australia so I booked my tickets in my married name so all my ID matched when i returned to the US.
