So to clarify... even an expedited advanced parole will take 2 weeks to process? I had no idea I could have filed this with my AOS package.

If you have your AOS NOA1, you can make an InfoPASS appointment and explain the urgent nature of your request. You may need some sort of documentation for proof (a faxed/emailed statement from her doctor, etc.) Some locations will issue the Emergency AP on the spot or within a day or two.

First step is to call the local USCIS office. Sorry to hear about your situation and good luck...

The good news is, I already have had my biometrics appointment done. I received my work authorization card in the mail a few weeks ago. Was actually crossing my fingers and hoping to receive my green card in the mail without a interview but instead received an RFE to redo my medicals which I did yesterday; originals got lost or some other nonsense.

Gonna call my parents and ask them to get the doctor to fax me something. Going to try and setup an infopass now.

Thanks to everyone for the extremely quick responses. I would have been absolutely LOST during this entire process without you.

OH my you went and had another medical done why??? If they lost it all you had to do was send them a copy of the one you had before you came. If it was still valid. They lost mine too and I got RFE but I sent them copy and was approved GC 2 weeks later, I heard that the new EAD and AP are all in one card now? Have another look at your EAD card.

Yes very good point!! The OP didn't apply for AP but I wonder if it comes as "standard" on the EAD card or if she needed to have applied for it to get the combo card??... **fingers crossed** she has the combo card!

Barb makes a good point. The combo card is still relatively new so sorry for not thinking about it.

Here's a link to info on it: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=f5d28bcbf851e210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=6abe6d26d17df110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD. If your EAD has the words "Serves as I-512 Advanced Parole" on it (should be above the "valid from" and "expiry date") then this is your AP and you can leave without issue (as long as you have not accrued overstay days.. you haven't updated when you filed for AOS so I can't see)

I had a similar situation - I took medical proof of the sick relatives condition (paperwork etc) and our relationship and all my immigration paperwork so far and made an info pass appointment and they gave me advanced parole paperwork right there.

Good luck

I know someone that did this recently (at least in the last 6 months). She had hospital proof of her father on deaths door. They approved the expedite but wouldn't do it on the spot and she ended up not being able to get there in time.

You can try to get emergency AP by making an Infopass at your local office.

Right. There is an emergency advance parole only good for 30 days, I am planning to do the same too. I was told by the USCIS in our area that i should file first the I-485 along with the Advance Parole and show them the proof/receipt that i filed the AP before they can process it then do the Info pass thing. Submit evidence warranting the issuance of the Emergency AP. Good luck i hope you'll be able to get it. No need to wait for the 2-3 mos processing of the AP. You can call the USCIS in your area to inquire about it. :)
