.22 bullet found in Fossgate, York

8:57am Friday 21st January 2011

A STARTLED man has told how he found a bullet lying in a York city-centre street.

Tim Stark said he was unloading items into the MOR Music store where he works in Fossgate yesterday morning when he spotted what he believed to be a live .22 bullet gleaming in a puddle.

He said he immediately called police, who came and took it away.

“I have no idea what it was doing there,” he said.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the bullet had been put into safe storage, and CID had confirmed it was not thought to be connected with any incident currently under investigation.

He asked anyone with any information about the bullet and how it came to be in Fossgate to phone the force on 0845 60 60 47.

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

Because finding bullets lying around city streets is normal? I've never come across any, ever and I've lived in some interesting places. Perhaps people where you guys live just throw bullets around themselves like confetti and finding one is par for the course, but it's not what I call normal and it could have been evidence in a crime so reporting it was just a decent person performing a civic duty.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

There are a lot of things I have never found in the street, can openers, dictionaries, wedding rings .... I don't even recall finding a set of keys in the street.

While I might call the police about finding a ring or someones keys, I doubt I would call about a can opener or a .22 bullet.

Better to find a .22 bullet than some of the stuff I've encountered in store parking lots. Examples:

Used diapers

Used syringes

Somebody emptying the ashtray of their car into a pile of 50+ cig butts

General trash and debris

Half eaten fast food

Condom (didn't investigate whether it was used or not)

And that is a quick list off the top of my head. Compared to that, a .22 bullet ain't sh*t.

I'll bet the Limeys had a haz-mat crew and the bomb squad to remove the offending bullet at a cost of hundreds if not thousands. I'm relieved that the offending bullet is in "safe storage". Who knows what the offending bullet may have done if it remained in the puddle. ;)

The mind boggling still question remains unanswered... "How did a .22 cal bullet ever find it's way to Yorkshire ?"

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I'd expect the people who found it thought it was connected to a crime. Why? Because it's not a normal thing to find on a British street.

Have a little perspective beyond your own back yard.

because every bullet must be connected to a crime.

Must it? Its a conclusion you might reach if you live somewhere where such things are not commonplace.

Personally I think your conclusion is the more extravagant here.

On the street just laying in the gutter? Er no.
