AOS March 2011 Filers

Just finish my interview. I reached there about a hour earlier than my appointment with was at 7:15am. I checked in and the guy told me to go to the second floor. We were there for about 15mins and then an asia like lady came out and called our number. We followed her to her office and she sworn us in. While there she ask us our names, address, our date of birth, she bascially ask us everything ojn the forms. She ask about my daughter, ask about mu husband job, if i'm work, why did i decide to stay back, who was support me, how/ why did i came here, how long was i planning to stay. She ask everything. Then when we were almost finish, she ask if we had any question for her, and mu husband ask her what is the next step? She then said that she is going to review our paperwork again and then she will give us a call and if we don't hear from her we should recieve something in the mail, but then she says that everything look ok. Well that's my interview let's see what happen next.

i think u are approved hence she said that everything looks ok.

It was at 7:30am and we got there at 7:45am. We were called in around 8:30. Interview took around 10 minutes. It was with an asian guy (with accent). He didn't ask me any questions. He asked couple questions to my wife and that basically was it. I still remember the questions he asked my wife.

1. how did you two meet?

2. he finished school?

3. seen his family members?

4. has he seen your family?

and that's it.

He then asked me those classical questions on the 485 form, to see if I am a terrorist. He was really nice, he smiled often made jokes. He said he would've approve me right there if I didn't have my F1 status problem back in 2006 (a little background info for you guys... I lost my status once, was called in to federal plaza to give statement) so he said therefore he'll have to review the case and I should get a response soon.

It was a pleasant experience, I should receive the card production soon. I am sure.

lol we had somewhat same experiences, He wrote something on my passport with a pen lol same same thing. it reads 7/27/2011 I485 pending section 245 cr6 lol like you say anybody can write this.

Congrats to new approvals and progress!!

Not sure what they did, but we just sent in regular photocopies of the USC's birth certificate, and that was fine for us. We brought the original to the interview in case they wanted it.

Thank you and congratulations LlamaInvasion for expecting baby boy. Your AOS took around 3 months huh... that was quick.

Interview today @ 1:45 PM EST in Federal Plaza:

We got there at 1:30, and we were called in at 2:15. My wife was pretty nervous, but I told her that we have nothing to worry about. Luckily for us, we got a very good officer who interviewed us. The moment we entered the room, she asked us to show "everything" that we'd like to show her. We gave her pictures, joint checking account statements, credit card statements, my fathers affidavit that we live with him and 3 other affidavits. She then asked my wife for her birth certificate. Unfortunately, she didn't have the original birth certificate you get when you register the child. She had the translated version she got from the consulate in USA. She said she needs to verify if this can be accepted, but don't you have the original one? We told her no, we only have this birth certificate and there's no way to retrieve the old one because in order to get the translated version, we had to give away the old one to the embassy. She then asked us several questions about our married life, and we answered in a really good manner. She even came to a point where she started joking around with us. I told her my wife was pretty nervous before coming here, but I told her just be yourself and everything will be fine. She said it's impossible to doubt your marriage because you have an amazing chemistry but I'm not sure how the birth certificate will work out.

She said she will have to verify this with the supervisor, and she cannot approve us at this time. I told her that my wife and I are planning to taking a trip to Italy next month, so is there any way we can receive the stamp. She said she would stamp it, but she has to find out about the birth certificate. She also told us to make an Infopass for next week, and come to my office with your passport. If your birth certificate issue works out fine, I will gladly stamp it so she can travel.

Thats about it as far as your interview is concerned.

My question to my fellow visajourney members is, do they really care that much about the birth certificate? I mean, they didn't say anything about the translated birth certificate we got from the embassy when we initially sent our documents. She even got EAD card without any issues by submitting the same birth certificate.

I know we shouldn't be worried, but we were hoping for a straight forward approval.

We didn't really miss any document, he just said he needed to check something, (which is fine for me since I am not planning on a trip any time soon)

Wow, we have the exact same time lines! lol, that's pretty funny! I have a strong feeling that we both are going to get "Card Production Ordered" together as well. Lets keep our fingers crossed.. Let me know once you get that shiny message from USCIS

I just got and email and text. `On July 29, 2011, we ordered production of your new card`

it took them two days to approve. man overall process was so easy.

me and my wife still think we didn't have an interview, what was that... so easy....

Congratulations to all those who have finished with their journeys for the time being!!!! I would like to know if there any other original March filers who received an RFE, sent back the materials requested, and are still waiting? This is our case and we have now been waiting for 2 months since we back the RFE and nothing at all on our case! Is this normal??? BTW our local office is in Phoenix.

lol you are right..by the time of your interview, it's gonne ba on page 80..and it's almost there CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
