Do I really have to send the original.....

When it says "original marriage certificate" to include in the packet, does that mean the original with our original signatures? Maybe this is a dumb question, I don't know, since it does say "original". But my real question is, will I get it back at some point? My husband and I both have original marriage certificates so it won't be all lost , but I still hate to give up mine. Anyway, I'm sure someone knows the answer to this. Thanks:)

I guess I should do research before asking a question like this but I do research all day long for work....so when it comes to just needing an answer to a question, the last thing I want to do is search different websites or through forums to find it. It's easier to just type it out, since I know there will be someone with a answer.

Just to add something here

It is either an original or a certified copy of it

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

They will return all original documents after the interview, if that didn't happen for any reason, you or your husband can go and get as many original marriage certificates as you want from the issuing authority over there,

Good Luck

Find a job you love to do, and you will never work another day in your life.

Thank you:) I am going to trust that I'll get it back then. The thing is, if we go get more originals they won't have our original signatures in pen, like the ones we have now. I told my husband he didn't have to mail his, that I would send mine. But I want it back lol;)

Really, and they accepted it without your original signatures? Maybe I will tell my husband to see if he can get one then. I'm just so afraid of losing mine...

Thank you for your help, I'm doing well, just trying to get through. I hope your wife gets an internet date soon. The best of luck to you:)
