Hi.....I filed the AOS and it was on record with USCIS as of Jan.14th....I received my biometrics appointment for Feb.7th. Now I am wondering how long we have to wait to hear something and what the next step is? When I check my case status on USCIS, it is still saying my papers were submitted Jan. 14th.......how do I check if there's been more recent checks? I see a lot of people write that their file is "TOUCHED" but no clue what that means and where to find it out....any help would be nice :) I am anxious to get my green card and start working! :)

Maybe a Mod could move this to the AOS forum. Might get more responses that way!

Yep, posting in correct location will get correct answers, thanks for pointing this out. My answer was based on where this was located.

Was your bio appointment for your Employment Authorization (I-765)? If so, expect it soon! EA generally come within a month of getting your biometrics done.

Checking your case status online is usually the best way to see if your case has been updated. Howeber, some people's cases statuses have remained on 'Initial Review' even after they were approved and received their Green Card though

Alternatively you can call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283, give them your receipt number and they can check your status.

'Touched' means that something changed when you checked your case status online. It generally means someone is processing your case. It's a good sign, it means that it's not just sitting there.

01/09/09 - Sent I-129F

Visa Approved!

23/07/10 - Arrived in the U.S.

28/08/10 - Got Married

20/10/10 - Sent AOS

04/11/10 - InfoPass Appointment to request an Expedited AP

05/11/10 - Expedited AP Approved! RFE requested for AOS

01/02/11 - RFE sent

01/01/11 - RFE Received

01/12/11 - Biometrics taken

01/28/11 - EAD Approved

02/02/11 - AOS moved to CSC

03/07/11 - Greencard Approved!

Yes, the biometrics was for EAD and early parole....

As of today, the file still says "January 14th" which was the date the receipts were sent to us...since then, we've received the biometrics appointment and have gone to it......today, my AOS was transfered from Vermont to California....any thoughts???

Quite a few cases have been transferred to California lately. It's supposed to speed up processing and you're less likely to have an interview now.

It seems California is taking a little longer lately though.

But it's a good sign, hopefully you won't have to have an interview and they'll just send you your green card!
