Grrr so apparently hubby didnt quite realise the importance of our NOA1 (big head *spam*) :bonk:

Can we request another copy??

Why do you need it, may I ask? I can't think of a reason why, unless you're traveling soon and need it as a 'hey, we're trying to immigrate properly' proof..

This one thing to relax about, NOA1 and NOA2 in CR-1 / IR-1 spouse visa cases is not required for anything later on, you did copy down the file number?

In K-1 cases NOA2 is important later.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

This one thing to relax about, NOA1 and NOA2 in CR-1 / IR-1 spouse visa cases is not required for anything later on, you did copy down the file number?

In K-1 cases NOA2 is important later.

You will need the receipt number to check on your progress etc...... :unsure::unsure:

Panic over. Hubby spoke to USCIS and they will send another copy. Did note receipt number down, but attorney is asking for a copy to apply for my ITIN, and I will need it for a possible visit down the line!!

Was it worth it getting a lawyer?

Most people here find it is NOT worth getting a lawyer unless they have a specific situation that requires one. The lawyer will be paid by you to fill in the same forms that you can fill in and will not likely jump as quickly as you will along the way when you are told to. They need to ask YOU the questions in order to have them answered and you will be constantly having to provide them with information to fill in your blanks. You are the one separated from your loved one, not the lawyer. They aren't in a hurry to be together, you are. You can have things ready ahead of time so the second they request it of you, you are good to go. A lawyer on the other hand will never have that same sense of urgency.

ETA: Just realized when I responded to Faust942's post that he/she was responding to a very old thread. This should probably be closed.

September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!
February 18, 2011: Wedding ceremony in Shiyan!!!
April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
