i'm going to forward this to my mum... she's only 59! i always wanted a baby brother! :innocent:

When my Mom got remarried in her mid-40's, we four daughters (aged 15-27) immediately demanded a baby brother.

We were told in no uncertain terms where to stick *that* idea.

Personally, I figure that there's a reason a woman's body doesn't bear children after a certain age (whatever individual age that is), and that messing with that reason isn't necessarily good.

In these stories of women having kids at these ages, I always feel for the kids. I don't doubt that they can be good parents, but in perspective, the child could be facing the loss of said parent at age 12 or 13 (or younger even).

My sentiments exactly. I'm not judging but concerned for the children. By the time this baby graduates from school the mother will be 80. My Mother was almost 43 when she had me (the 10th & last child) and my Dad was 45 and there was such a generation gap between us. Don't get me wrong...I love them dearly. My Mother passed away at 86 and my Dad is 97 and still in wonderful health.

I became a Grandmother at 42 :yes: ...........{{{{{HUGS}}}}

Well, WHAT-ever!!!

But I'm only 48 and I wouldn't have another baby if it dripped gold from it's nose.

:D:D

62 is definately too old to be having more children.. especially by in vitro when there are so many others out there who can't have children..

With the help of a fertility specialist, a 65 year old woman has a baby. All her relatives come to visit and meet the newest member of their family.

When they ask to see the baby, the 65 year old mother says, "Not yet."

A little later they ask to see the baby again. Again the mother says, "Not yet."

Finally they say, "When can we see the baby?"

And the mother says, "When the baby cries."

So they ask, "Why do we have to wait until the baby cries?"

The new mother says, "I forgot where I put it."

I also don't really care a whole lot for the idea of such older women having babies. The first indication that they're done childbearing should be their body not allowing them to get pregnant. I mean, it's only going to be a short time until they're not going to be so able to get down and play with their kids, plus they face the risk of getting sick and the child having to take care of them or even dying.

So what age IS appropreiate to have a child?

I'm 44 yrs old, my hubby is 39. I have a 10 yr old daughter. My hubby has no children. I woulkd Love to have another child. So, am I being unfair?

44 is not 62. 44 is also within "normal" child-bearing age, albeit in the higher risk category (over 35, over 40, etc.). Apples and oranges.

As for whether it's fair to any chidren you have, only you can answer that.
