Hi everyone,

I received my NOA1 on Sept 10th 2010. However the last and only time they touched my app was on Oct 3rd. I called today and they put in a service request for it. Does anyone know approx how long it takes to hear anything back and is their response usually your approval? The rep told me 15 to 30 days but i want to know what your experiences have been with service request turn around times....

Thank you so much....Im so desperate to have my fiance here...

Least they aren't saying "60 days" now for service requests. Not sure on the real timeframe though.

But you being September and them letting you put the request in, in my mind, is a good thing. Might mean they are 15-30 days from September? I dunno.

Yeah, they're only now picking up Augusts, so just be even more patient, I guess.

I'm surprised they let you put in a service request since you are still 10 days short of the 5 month mark.

I wouldn't worry yet about there being a problem with yours. September approvals are still really spotty, as they are mostly doing August now, and even a few Julys are open.

Yeah, if VSC carry on approving at the speed that they are at the moment then they will get to September 10th NOA1 petitions sooner than the top limit of 30 days that the OP has been told. Sounds like a good sign to me. Long may these 20 VJ member approvals per day continue.

Thanks for all your responses....i saw on VJ that someone sent in an I129F this month and got their NOA2 in 16 days and her fiance is in the same country as mine...im not hating on this applicant believe me im not but i told them about it and how i didnt agree with them getting an approval so soon after i and many people have been waiting 5months+ she said she understood why i would be upset and told me she would put in a service request...she also said she saw my app was only touched once and it wasnt within the last 60 days...so i really hope this is the begining of a fast approval response...

The VJ member that you mention did receive her NOA 2 in 16 days and her fiance might be in the DR, BUT he is a Haitian national and that's why her petition was expedited.

I do hope that you get an approval soon, believe me, I know how difficult it is to wait with no news whatsoever. Fortunately though, once your petition is approved, things will begin to happen at a faster rate. Remember, however, that unfortunately for us (DR people) we will be likely to wait 3 - 4 months for the interview after NOA2.

Best wishes! (F)

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

Yeah, I had the same problem. My NOA1 was mailed 7/28. I called Friday, and was told they couldn't put in a service request for four more days. I called today, and they put in my request, for whatever good it does.

That's the first time I heard them placing a service request before the five months time. They don't really have any standards nor could they meet them if they had any. The approved DR petition early makes things even worse.

All I expect Vermont to do is catch up and eventually do away with this ridiculous 5 months + wait.

I am currenly pleased with Vermont, but not overall. They still have a great deal to catch up; July and August are still passed due no matter how many they approve. September and late August should have been getting emails as of today.

She herself said that she just sent her app in this month...and when i called USCIS i asked if haitians are prioties and they told me no.....like i said i am happy for her i actually wish i had as good luck as she did but its frustrating to see somne people dont have to wait like others....

Atlest they seem to be alive again after going dormant for three months. There is some hope again although...a lot of catching up need to happen.

I would give them a few weeks to catch up and September will be soon getting approvals. So, don't give up just yet.
