Police Check

We are hopefully about 2-3 weeks from our NOA2. We are going through the Vancouver Consulate in Canada which seems to run quite quickly after the case has been forwarded (quick being 3-5 weeks from NVC receiving case in some cases). Does anyone know how far in advance I can request my police check? It takes about 1-2 weeks from date of ordering... Any advice appreciated.

I'm not from Canada but personally I did mine (and my medical because we didn't need a case number) 2 months after the NOA1 date because at the time it was taking 3 months to get NOA2 and I wanted to have it in time.

The police check is valid for 6-12 months (varies by country) and medical for 12month. It's highly likely you'll have your interview before the 6 months of the police check SO if I were you I'd go ahead and start the police check stuff now. I'm all for anything (legal ) to reduce waiting times

You can go to any local RCMP office and have it done in 15 minutes. I had 2 of them done on separate occasions in Burnaby BC. Call them if you need to verify this information. Colin

Have it done now. Each RCMP station varies in time that it takes to get it. Like the above poster stated it took her 15 minutes--others take a day or 2 or longer. Best to phone them and ask how long it takes. One can also use local police forces, just have to ensure your search is done canada wide. As well if you have changed ur name, have it searched in that name as well.

I agree, get it now. In Canada they're valid for 12 months, so there is very little chance it would expire before your interview.
