Yes, I have her permission to open her immigration related mail.

Letter is from the Department of Homeland Security in Lee's Summit, MO, thought everything was transferred to St. Paul from the last letter.

Basically states that before they transferred her file to St. Paul, her application underwent a thorough investigation with the following items missing. And make sure she brings these to her interview.

"Bring your state-issued drivers' license or state ID card."

Ha, one more thing to remember, my wife never had to bring that, but had it in her purse anyway, along with her green card. But my wife and daughter would have never had a state drivers' license nor an ID until they presented their green cards. So this type of identification is secondary, but anything to make the USCIS happy. That is our job, to keep them happy.

Well the good thing is she has an Interview letter and date so she neednt worry.

Some of us have been holding onto these Yellow letters with no date...sad.gif

All I can say from previous experience with the USCIS, if all goes smooth for her, it would be the first time for us. It ain't over until its over.

All I had to show at the N-400 interview was the interview letter, the Green Card, and my Driver License, and that right at the beginning.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Did that letter also have a large line at the top that says "This is Not an Interview Letter" or something to that effect? My wife got that yellow letter, informing her to bring her state ID/drivers license. Just did the fingerprints today...more on that in another topic perhaps.

Yes it is a ugly yellow letter with the top line in bold large font saying 'this is not an Interview letter'

The Driver's License/State ID may be to prove residency in the State in which it was issued for the 3 months prior to applying for citizenship. I had to show mine at my interview as well.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Just to give an update.

My mom has not received an interview letter =/

She contacted USCIS numerous times; and for the past 7 months, she had no clear-cut answer. They told her to just wait.... and wait...

What we did recently: on Jan28, 2011, we contacted our congressman, who contacted USCIS on our behalf. Thank GOD, USCIS finally responded (3 business days later!)and said that her fingerprints came unclassified ("unclear"), so they will be sending another appointment letter for her to take her fingerprints once again. Why haven't they said that before???!!?? It would have save her so much time!! arrggg...

Does she have a 500 mile round trip drive? They did let me in to watch both my wife and stepdaughter get their prints taken, fingerprint was on a screen about 10" high, certainly they could see if it was clear or not. But as usual, with goofs, we pay the price.

FBI on Discovery bragging hour claimed to solve crimes 80 years old with ink prints. In a five year period we have to already make four trips for biometrics for a total of 2,000 miles of driving. USCIS can't even save prints for a couple of months. And unless things changed recently, won't even see that fingerprint on your US citizen certificate.
