hello to my fellow vj's, hope you all had and contiune to have a great holiday season!

I am so confused and i hope you guys can shed some light. I sent my AOS on the 8th of november.I have recieved my NOA on the 17 of november. I have checked my case status everyday since then but with no luck. My case status wasn't to be found. 2 weeks ago, i decided to call them, they told me just yesterday they have sent me a RFE...i asked her if it was biometrics and she said no...a RFE... :crying: she tole me if i don;t get the letter by the 27 to call them.

I called yesterday ...but they had technical problems, called today, and a machine tells me that my letter was undeliverable, and that can have some major effect on my case. Then i talked to a lady, that told me that maybe my name wasn't registered on the post office, that's why the letter went back. told her i get mail with my name on it all the time. She said because it's the gov they have some restrictions, and your name has to be registered. The NOA's, they were on my name...wasn't that from the gov as well?? how come those arrived??

What's crazy is that i have mentioned to this lady about the RFE and she told me how do i know it's a RFE, so i told her the other lady that i talked to 2 weeks ago said so. aparently they don't know what's inside the envelope, she says it was probably the biometrics letter, and there is no way anyone can tell what the envelope is..if its biometrics or rfe...

The big question is what do i do? what if the letter was the biometrics and i missed it?? I just don't understand...every application was under the same address, we got the NOA and now all of a sudden i can not get the letter???????

My hubby told me he never heard of registering your name to the post office. If that would be the reason then why did we get the noa..that 3 of them were with my name on it??

I was thinking to make an infopass apointment and make sure everything is all right. what do you guys think? has anyone experienced something similar?

Thank you guys, and have a happy new year!

1. Put a sticker in your mailbox with your name on it.(if you dont already have it in there)

2. Make an infopass appointment.

Ok, so i called again and asked to speak with a supervisor to clear out some things for me. to be honest i put the phone on the speaker so my hubby can also hear. we are both still very confused.

She said they have got me for biometrics on 30th of november, but it wasn't an official request. The letter that i suposed to get was for biometrics, and no one can tell me why it was undeliverable. Now they asked for my e-mail address, and said to me they will put the letter again or the request to be mailed to me again. Or they will sumbit the info to uscis and they will mail the letter to me again, or something similar....

When i called 2 weeks ago the lady told me it's a RFE, now this other lady said it was a biometrics letter, but before that i spoke to two other people(one of them put me on hold every 30 sec for 30 sec-so basically he did not know anything about anything), and they all had different answers for me, and their answers were so vague...that i did not understand anything. Then when i wanted to ask , they quickly hang up the phone on me....

wow...i have to say, i have no ideea who are these people answering the phone, but they are not really on their game so to speak.

The first lady told me to wait up to 30 days for the new letter, the last one -tyhe supervisor told me it should arrive in 7 days.

At this point i don't know what to do. Should i wait? or should i do the infopass?

Their letters usually arrive 7 days...at least that's what I notice with all my USCIS communications. Sometimes the customer service people don't know what they're talking about..sometimes I feel I know better than them especially in explaining the document processing, instead of shedding light to your circumstance they confuse you more.

Anyway, if they say to wait for 7 days, then wait for 7 days then call them after if you still dont have it, if you want to speak to an Immigration Officer you can schedule an infopass on the website. Whenever I call I usually take down notes like the name of the person am speaking to or their id # just so I'd have a reference. If the NOA's arrive, I don't see why this letter won't.

In my case the RFE came first and then the biometrics which I waited for 5 months, thank God I got my EAD card today.Don't worry the RFE is nothing you can't handle. In my case it was a copy of our marriage certificate even when i sent them a copy already and Federal Income Tax for 2009.

Goodluck & have a Happy New Year!!

I think that the people who answer the phone don't always have the same lingo that we use (and in some cases improper lingo). I have two examples.

1. There was a thread a while ago about CSC K-1 visa petitions, that some operator had said that the petitions were "on hold" for 5 months. People here got really angry. because they thought it meant a further 5 month delay than the posted approval goal-time of 5 months. I thought at the time, and still do, however, that the person mispoke, but really meant that there was a 5 month wait for K-1 visa petitions - the posted time. And in one sense, they are not even looked at for 5 months, so it is sort of "on hold."

2. I know that for naturalization applications, biometrics is referred to as an RFE. When the biometrics letter is sent out, the applicant gets an email saying there is a pending RFE. While for concurrent 130/485, it is not (meaning that we all don't get an RFE e-mail notice when they send out biometrics appointments) it is possible that on the internal USCIS call center prompts, it shows as "RFE pending," in the sense that they are waiting for information from you - your fingerprints.

But really, none of that matters. The point is that for some reason your mail is having trouble getting to you. I would put your name on the mailbox as Inky suggests, and go to your local post office and ask what they need from you to deliver all of your mail. Maybe they can answer some questions about their local mail policies. I would also make infopass and explain your confusion and the differences in definitions you got from the phone people. Maybe a face-to-face conversation will be less confusing, and you can figure out what was sent, and what is now coming in the mail (whether it is a missed biometrics appt, or an RFE, or both). GOOD LUCK!

We had a random letter (AP papers) not make it to us even though everything else has. If you look through VJ it happens sometimes, one letter is undeliverable when others aren't. We called and "updated" our address (ie told them it was the same) and they resent it (this was once it came back to them, which was 6 weeks after they had initially sent it) and we got it 3 days later. Definitely make an infopass appointment ASAP though.

That's why it's good to schedule an infopass. Sometimes those people at that 1800 number would confuse you.
