Just want to share my experience of doing SUCCESSFUL BIOMETRICS today at Alexandria, VA ....

My biometrics was scheduled for the Jan 14th 2011 at the Baltimore downtown ASC .... But I thought to try my luck today by walking in at Alexandria, VA .... I went today around 1:45 PM .... The lady at the reception asked me for the passport and the I-485 notice .... She didn't even check that which ASC was assigned to me and gave me the application form .... The next phase was to complete the form and get a token no .... That was smooth too .... That lady didn't check my appointment letter as well ....

I wait for another 20-25 minutes until my no was called .... The guy came and he didn't bother to check my letter that it was scheduled for the same day and time too or not .... and luckily I was done within 10 minutes and came out of the ASC .... The guy gave me the letter as a receipt back to me and I left the ASC .... I was done by 2:30 PM ....

So, I would recommend anyone who wants to go for walk in biometrics .... You might be as lucky as I am

Secondly, anyone knows what is going to be the next step and in how many days would I hear something about my application and specially AP ?? There was no TOUCH today on either of my applications ....

After your biometrics appointment, you should be touched within this week or next week. They will approve your EAD/AP and may send you an interview letter notice. Hope that was helpful?

Thanks for your reply .... One more question, does it matter that I should have gone to the ASC I was assigned to ??? As I was assigned to BALTIMORE ASC but I went to Alexandria ASC and the date was JAN 14th, but I went on DEC 27th ??

I don't think it matters as the officer at your ASC scanned in your appointment letter and so added the biometrics to your applications. Now if he would have refused to take your prints it would have been different, but I'd say you are good to go and have that part of the AOS successfully behind you. Personally I have received my EAD approval E-mail 4 business days after I went to the ASC, read here before it can take anywhere between a week to two weeks for seeing some movement with the application. (Keep on mind, the online case status is not totally reliable, you know you got it for sure once the envelope arrives in the mailbox)

I don't think it matters where you got it done, but I would assume how fast it moves from there is going to be based on your local field office (Baltimore) and not the one where Alexandria is based off of (DC).

What does that exactly mean ..... couldn't get ya ....

I called yesterday to USCIS and they told me that they do have my biometrics record in their system that I got it done on the 27th Dec ....

Alexandria ASC is usually where people whose cases are going to be the processed by the Washington DC/Fairfax VA field office go for biometrics. The Baltimore ASC is where people whose cases are going to be processed at the Baltimore field office go. There's no reason, AFAIK, that you can't go to a different ASC for the fingerprints, but your field office is still Baltimore, so how fast you get your interview letter, etc. are based on how quickly the Baltimore field office is processing. (Just throwing it out there because most timelines you see here where people got their biometrics done at Alexandria ASC are based on the DC field office, so their timelines for EADs and interview letters won't give you much of an idea of what to expect despite being the same ASC you used.)

Thanks for explaining ..... But isn't it that my application is being processed at Lincoln, Nebraska .... And my another question would be Baltimore ASC would have my biometrics record or not ?? Thanks .....

I am sorry to discourage you, but walk in in Alexandria USCIS office does not work anymore. We went today Friday July the 12th at 11.30 am. A not very freindly officer at the entrance (a woman) asked me when was the appointment and she did not let me in. I pray and I told her that I will certainly will lose my job if I do not get a work permit ASAP, but obviously she does not care at all about people's life... My 5 years old son and I we travelled in public transportation for 2 hours to get there, and even when I asked her: "maybe later in the day" etc... she was very rude and not listening.... I don't know what I am going to do, everything it's so difficult, I am so tired. Last year, the same procedure in New York the downtown office was easy... no problem... Is this office? Is the particular officer? Someone knows if certain times of the day or certain officers or certain days could work better? Thank you!!!

That's unfortunate! I would venture to guess it's either a) the officer or b) they're cracking down. I'd search around the board and see if anyone has gone there recently. We had no issues back in November as well as several years ago.
