Sponsor/Co-Sponsor Advice Needed

Hello -- I filed for k-1 on October 1st. I was reading through the sponsor/co-sponsor information, and basically my situation is this...

I was employed for 4 years and just recently moved to chicago for college, and I have had plenty of loans/aid to live off of for the first semester/year while I adjusted to a new school and a new state. Therefore I am not currently employed. I also do freelance photography and modeling for extra income.

My dad has already agreed to be my fiance's co-sponsor, and should meet the requirements without any problems. Will this be an issue that I am not currently employed and I have student loans out?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry as well if I made this post under the wrong topic

Thanks very much! That's a relief!

So for the sponsor paperwork, I would fill one out and my dad would fill one out?

Yes and along with Dad's, send proof of his US citizenship like his US born birth certificate or US passport. (Photocopies)

They do not require any information on debts, by the way, to address your previous question. But without employment you won't qualify on your form alone.

I have another question. The second page of the Affadavit of Support form is all about employment, since I am unemployed, how should I fill out the fields... about my mortgages that I dont have, etc? It's going to be all blank haha

Answer truthfully about employment. Unemployed is the appropriate answer if true.

You can leave all asset related questions blank. You cosponsor can do the same if their income is sufficient.

Thanks for your answer! So I should leave them blank, no dash through or N/A?

Blank is fine in this instance, as providing asset information is optional when not needed.

I have another question! Is a copy of my dad's (sponsors) birth certificate acceptable? He does not have an original copy to give me. He scanned his copy and emailed it to me.

Also he does not have a passport.

A photocopy of a certified copy is just fine. So is a copy of his passport data page. Either will do.

Ok great! Thanks. Of course I have another question. Do you know how many years of tax returns I need to provide for my dad and myself?

This question indicates the next thing you need to do is to actually read the I-864 itself along with its instructions. Then, the answer will be clearly stated for you.
