Hello everyone, I am starting the process to get my Colombian mother in Law to come and visit in about 8 months (can anyone guess why?). I know her length of stay is determined by the official at the POE, but what is the reasonable amount of time to request? We would like about 3 months, but don't want to push our/her luck.

I have seen stays of up to a year for visitors. This is NOT unreasonable.

she'll need a B2 visa and as far as I know that grants her a 90 day legal stay in the US. When I traveled to the US with a B2 visa last year (before starting the K1 process), I had planned for a 2 month stay, but at POE I was still given a 3 month permission to stay (I-94). So 2-3 months is reasonable...

three months is good,if there is many tornados in oklahoma, she may want to go back home before the three months,

Good point, it took quite a while for my Colombian wife to adjust to the weather here. One day hot, one day cold, one day tornado, one day ice/snow, etc.

VWP is 90 days max; B2 has a 6-month default which is usually granted.
