06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

She is...

We made it through Immigration at Miami.. Maritza didn't enjoy it much but she made it through.. A few colorful issues durring her interview, for example, she forgot my Month for my DOB, she said the guy was intimidating...

So we're here in Miami, we have our connecting flights in the morning, so we'll relax at the hotel and head to the Airport in the AM.. Overall quite an eventful day...

Maritza didn't enjoy it much but she made it through.
The future Mrs. T-B. came straight to Houston on approximately zero hours of sleep for 3 days, due to multiple "despedidas" (going-away parties) in 3 different cities. She promptly caught an upper-respiratory infection. They didn't hassle her, though -- Houston CBP knows its stuff.

Si, man -- by birth & by residence-as-an-adult. If you live in Del Rio, I'm envious -- been there 3x to visit Cd. Acuna. Del Rio is also just about the closest civilized outpost within shouting distance (if 5 hours is that, Texas-style anyway) to Presidio, Gateway to Ojinaga. Let me know (sometime -- you're occupied now :) ) how you ended up there & whether you're on a first-name basis with the flight crews on Colgan Air. I can also tell you a very funny story about Mrs. T-B.'s interactions with the Mexicans in Nuevo Laredo.

Congratulations Kenny & Maritza! Kenny, I just realized that I met you at the Colombian Angels office earlier this year. I returned from Medellin yesterday. Me and my fiancee Leydy got engaged Tuesday. We're just beginning the visa journey. I hope we're as lucky as you and Maritza. Best of luck to both of you.

June 4, 2012 - Kelly and I had our first chats on Skype and Windows Live Messenger.

July 10 - 25, 2012 - We met in person and spent time together during my trip to Barranquilla, Colombia. At the end of the trip we decided to apply for the fiancee visa.

August 1, 2012 - I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancee sent via Fed Ex.

August 3, 2012 - Petition received at the USCIS Lock box in Lewisville, Texas.

August 7, 2012 - Received NOA 1 email and text message. Received the official NOA 1 letter in the mail a few days later. The petition was forwarded to the infamous Vermont Service Center.

March 6, 2012 - Received email from USCIS stating that our visa petition was approved and the NOA 2 letter was sent on March 5th.

I remember the day, Sandra from that office is old friend from our first trip down there... We met her while visiting, a friend I was with had worked with a diferent agency were Sandra was working... We became friends.. However that particular day didn't go so well.. Long story, someday I can explain it, but anyhow.. it's something about the Culture that creates those interesting encounters..

I moved to Del Rio in 2001.. At the time, I worked as a field engineer for (Used-to-be) Cingular Wireless, now AT&T.. I was responsible for the Cell Sites from Uvalde and West, down towards Laredo up along the Texas-Mexico Border North to Sanderson, then up to the Intestate.. A huge Rural Teritory.. Del Rio was kind of central to that Teritory..

I no longer work for AT&T but they've been asking me to come back into thier Project Management Group,, I enjoy my current Job, but it's extensive Travel and, Yes, I am on the Colgan Flight every Monday and Return Every Friday..

Who knows, if they make me an offer I can't refuse, it maybe the best thing for Maritza and I to take the AT&T Job again so I don't need to travel.. But for me, Travelling as often as I do, isnt really a problem.. I really enjoy the technical aspects of my current job and the challenges, but, I cant be selfish anymore, since my soon to be wife is now here in the USA...

Hey, Hope to meet someday.. We've had some colorful dialogs here on VJ, but maybe sometime we could meet in San Antonio and have dinner with the 4 of us...

Thanks Kenny. Sandra and Juan are good friends and have been very helpful. I've spent the weekend finishing me and Leydy's application package. It's exciting for us. You're right about the culture. I've had some strange encounters on my Colombia trips but it's hard not to love Colombian women.
