what a joke.k-1 is a " one way" visa so to speak, why would anyone buy a round ticket?

Some people by them because often it is cheaper. Buy what is cheapest.

I do know of a couple instances of the AOS having a problem when they bought a round trip ticket. My wife arrived on a one-way along with our K2 son. No problems.

If you do not get married, he has to leave the country within 90 days. They do not care HOW he leaves the country.

No truth at all.

You will not be denied for that reason. Sleep well, enjoy your trip.

Hi Gary, It is nice hearing from you. As you always know, I trust your advice. You my friend have been a dear one here on visa journey and with hopes will continue to bless us all with encouraging words. Have a Happy Thanksgiving as I will be enjoying my time flying with no turkey.

Thanks

Yes that is what is friend said that the people at the airport when we check in do not understand what K1's visa are for and this is the issue that we may run into. I appreciate your words, thank you so much.

We flew out of Casa with one way tickets on Royal Air Maroc. No issues. Enjoy your trip :)

Maybe you can upgrade the one way to a full fare round trip ticket with a bit more cash. I used to get full fare tickets when I wasn't sure about when I was going back but needed a return ticket for coming across the border. The good thing about full fare tickets is you can change your return dates at no charge or cash in the return portion of the round trip ticket for a full refund if your plans change or find cheaper way back.

I am leaving for Morocco tomorrow to bring my fiance back to the U.S. on Nov. 30th. Today, he was visiting a friend that works at the Embassy, his friend told him that he may not be able to leave Morocco on a booked/paid for by me a "ONE WAY" ticket. He said that they do not consider a K1 a permanent visa and he would have to have bought a round trip ticket. I find this to be just impossible as there many do not book round trip tickets as they would lose that money and it's not cheap.

Is there any truth to this????? Do I need to re-purchase another ticket tonight for him to return to Morocco? OMG the night before I leave and I get this bit of information.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You will be fine.K1 visa holder is intended immigrant. Enjoy your trip! Don't worry.

My fiance traveled on a one way ticket, although he bought it. I purchased the ticket from New York to Kansas City. Everything was great!

It seems to be an unfortunate side affect of working in certain government positions that instead of saying "I don't know" they feel they have to make up something. You will run into it at the SS office, the DMV, even the Post Office. I cannot begin to list the complete BS that people here have been told by the clerks at the SS office alone. There is a REASON VJ posts the rules regarding SS cards, for example.

Our son was told by the clerk at the DMV he HAD to have a Social Security number to get a drivers license. He did not have one yet as he had not received his green card yet. (K2s have to have a green card or EAD for SSN) BS! The state does not require a SS number and does not require an EAD or Green card. We got a supervisor and she told the clerk to write "none" (we had already done that). Just minutes later, while I waited for him to take his test, the SAME clerk told ANOTHER woman (also an immigrant) that SHE had to have a SSN! I overheard this and interrupted them and pointed out we had just been through the same thing. The clerk looks at ME like I am the one that has a problem! She let the woman take her test.

Stick to people that have done it, study the rules and keep them with you. It will be necessary for you to train government workers throughout the process and you need to be prepared to do this or your loved ones will be denied their benefits by ignorant boobs. It is not just the Casa Blanca consulate where this exists.
