Does USC need to go do the biometrics, too?

Hi people,

I just received my Biometrics letter, and my appointment date is on the 15th.

Does my husband (USC) need to come, too? It doesn't mention his name on the letter. Also, it says it's biometrics for the I-485 and I-765. Will we get one for the I-130 and he'll be required to go to that? If so, do they schedule the same date?

Thanks!

The USC does not need to go at all. And the letter you got (for 485 and 765) is 100% correct. There are no biometrics for 130 or 131. Good luck!

It's possible the USC could get called in for biometrics if something came up on their background check - usually it would have to be a criminal conviction that might make them ineligible to submit an immigrant visa petition like an I-130. This doesn't happen in the overwhelming majority of cases, though.

So, would you suggest him to come with me? He doesn't have any convictions, hehe.

My appointment is in the middle of the afternoon, and my husband works. If possible, I would rather go alone so he won't have to miss a day of work. But I guess he can take the day off, if necessary.

Thanks :)

You should be fine going on your own.

No, he doesn't need to come with you. If he was required to give his biometrics then he would have received a separate appointment. Also, the security guards at some offices are a-holes, and won't let anyone inside unless they have an appointment letter, so even if he went there's no guaranty he'd be allowed inside. The process itself is straightforward - photos and fingerprints.

I went with my wife and step-kids to their biometrics appointment, but I didn't have a choice - they don't have a drivers license!
