First option looks like a good plan for us. Yes as crazy as it sounds we need to juggle the scheduling big time. Unless there was a way to get the interview in early january and then she could come back from our holiday with me, but since that isn't likely, we have to try to plan for getting the interview in late April at the earliest.

ya, suggest you handle at at NVC via EP -

but

delay that DS-230 filing until February - if you want an April Interview.

NVC sets the appointment for GUZ IV for GZO casefiles, usually it's within 30 days of final case review -

so -

submit the ds-230 - the clock starts.

about 2 weeks later - 'case complete' timetick, which is really 'documents complete' - they don't need anything else from you - then

3 weeks go by for the 'final review'

then

the scheduling occurs - is some hidden queue at NVC - is NOTHING you can do to find out about it -

but

within 72 hours of 'final review complete' - the interview is scheduled.

Heck - I'd say - just pay the fee bills, wait for the conversion to GZO case number,

then file the I-864 and DS-230 on same day, via EP, when YOUR CALENDAR is perfect..

Ahh. Perfect. Thanks for that info. I can file everything electronically whiel we are on holiday and hopefully it will come together. Worst case is I won't be able to go over to be with her for the interview, but I know I can't go in with her anyway and it's questionable how much good it does anyway, but she wants me to be there and that's what matters. :D

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

April date? I don't think you should delay at all. NVC usually gets the approved Visa applicaations to the Consulate with in 5-7 business days. The Consulate send out packet #3 quickly. Then it's all up to your fiance and how long they take to acquire the documents and send them back. Then another 30 days before the interview, then if immediately approved they will have 6 months to enter.

NVC 5 to 7 days is for K1 applications.

He is IR1/CR1 category. It will take 1 to 2 months (currently) to complete the NVC process.

have a Packet 3 sent out from the GUZ IV to an address in China.

'Packet 3 Ops' that yer used to, for a K-1 visa, roughly translates to 'NVC Ops' for an IR-1 / CR-1 visa.
