Hey I know someone who got all pissed when someone insinuated that they might not be real, but someone elses sock puppet account. Was really funny, and I still laugh at that display of butthurt.

& I know someone better than I ever wanted, needed or care to because of their big mouth FB friends.....So now we are all laughing ( which is a good thing)

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Chance would be a fine thing...lol

Taking care and riding my horse at the ranch is really the hobby I love most. Beyond that & taking care of my family & house & work I've not much time and only find myself on the web when I've nothing else to do. Personally, I think FB is great. I get to keep in touch with friends and family that don't live nearby.

I don't think I'll be in on national defriend day or whatever. I sort my lists out periodically anyway.

Riding horses on a ranch? Yes, I am jealous, but I suppose I like the idea of riding horses more than in reality.

My list is pretty much sorted. I only have a couple of people on there whom I wouldn't consider family or a friend. I resisted facebook for the longest time. I figured that I keep in touch with the people whom I am close to and that was enough. But with university friends and more distant family it became very difficult to keep contact with some people, so I gave in.

I have a couple of friends who I call "Pokemon Facebookers". They are the ones who send out invites to everyone they have ever met, even for only 30 seconds once when they were 12 waiting for the bus. That irritates me. They will send an invite, and then maybe 1 PM, and then come the endless invites to like this person's business or band or favorite restaurant. They are like an online hemmorhoid.

Horse riding is....freedom. It really is. There is nothing, nothing quite like you and your horse on the trails, cantering through pasture or competing in a show.I could go on about it forever. No matter how ill advised my doctor's say it is....( another matter entirely), I ride- because it's....freedom ( OMG-that's deep...I just know folks are snorking and laughing right now...IDC)

*snap back to FB* I hate the status updates every 2 minutes ( members of my family & some of my friends do that and it's annoying). I don't want to know that you sneezed, have the poops or whatever.

You can substitute horse for motorcycle and that about explains why I like to ride off-road when I get the chance.

I really despise the games on facebook. I also hate that so many of my friends think that I should now become a fan of their business or add their friends restaurant on my friends list. I bascially delete people who try to use facebook as a marketing tool.

And they wonder why America is spiraling down the crapper. Don't we have anything better to do?

No offense Slim, but that is something my grandfather would say. You are thinking in terms of the past. Now with everyone having a smartphone and access to immense amounts of data, you can keep in touch with people on your blackberry and send a message on an elevator ride. But I do see your point a bit. People are micromanaging their interpersonal neurosis.

I know someone who got defriended by someone else ( and others) and complained on another site that it was ' the ultimate in social rejection'....LMAO....still makes me chuckle!

I'm honored to be in his company.

You are thinking in terms of the past.

I wish we'd all think in terms of the past. Remember when you could leave your doors unlocked or travel to "the big city" without a cell phone? Hell, I used to travel without my carry piece. It would be nice if those days could come back again.

Now with everyone having a smartphone and access to immense amounts of data, you can keep in touch with people on your blackberry and send a message on an elevator ride. But I do see your point a bit. People are micromanaging their interpersonal neurosis.

Back in my day, when we had a book report due, we had to use something called the dewey decimal system. That little thing in the library where you had to look up the codes on the books in the card catalog then go on an adenture to find the "data" you were looking for....

... then you had to take about two weeks making notecards and an outline before you finally hand-wrote and then typed your paper - ON A TYPEWRITER!!!

A book report or "paper" would be assigned with about three weeks to a month or more to complete and it would have to be like, six whole pages. Today, kids are given an assignment requiring five sources, twenty-two pages, and they have three days to get it done.

YET THEY'RE DUMB!

Sure, they can type you 56 WPM, lol, on their smartphones with one hand behind their back, but they can't change a tire on their car.

I joined Facebook. Who wants to be my friend?
