Hello,

My brother in law petitioned for my husband a couple of years ago as alien relative and a couple of months ago he received a letter stating that his I-130 petition had been approved. Does anyone know what's next after that? Does he have to apply for AOS next?? Thanks

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to "Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America" as the prior forum is for K1, K2, K3 & K4 visas so this is a more appropriate location**

the next thing is more waiting. the approved i130 will be sent to the NVC where it will be filed until the priority date become current. he has to check the visa bulletin every month from now on. it is a very long time of waiting depending on what country he is from.

for example, if he is Mexican, it is more than 15 years, non Mexican, more than 8 years depending on the country. If it's only been a couple of years, then he still has many years of waiting.
